   What would you do if an earthquake struck in your area?
   
   Are you prepared? What would you do if the earth started to shake? Do you have any plans for what to do afterwards?

   I would ride it out and see what happens. They are so instant that you can't prepare for them. If there is sugnificant damage I would go stay with family until insurance can figure it out.

   To tell you the truth...I don't know what I would do. Since they are so unpredictable, I just hope I could keep a level head and not panic.

   Living in a fault zone we can have several small earthquakes per day.
   
   So far the biggest I have felt personally was a 4.8 earthquake. So nothing major.
   We have an emergency box prepared, a good supply of toilet paper, first aid kit, blankets, dried food for a few days, and water sterillization supplies as well as a key for our gas supply just incase we need to turn it off.We also have a supply of bottled water that we rotate every few weeks to keep it fresh.
   
   Plans for the event itself include knowing a meeting place to wait and also keeping a list of contacts in my wallet.
   Though we haven't had a major earthquake in this town since the early 1980's it seems sensible to prepare, but as we have almost daily minor quakes, a big one seems unlikely. Unless it comes from the San Andreas fault only twenty miles away over the mountains.

   been through a 7.2 earthquake once which lasted about 1 minute ... i didn't feel it much though but when i talked to friends and family around the area the next day they said they were flung around and their TV sets fell off their stands etc etc...
   the only difference i noticed in the house structures was that we had extra pillars installed when constructing the house (all made out of brick and cement)... i guess they helped keep the house sturdy.
   
   I think the best thing to do if you can still think in that situation is to get out of the house as soon as possible into open air, but it happens so fast you normally don't have time to think unless it lasts for longer than 15-20 seconds.

   I would so much like to tell you that I have stocks to  get me through endless tomorrows.
   
   I would so much like to tell you that my housing is fortifeid..........with abilities to withstand the storms of tomorrow.
   
   There is food, medical supplies, bandages, flashlites, merichome, oil, seed pods, canned goods, cotton, lamp oil, beans, grains and all sorts of other things..........
   
   
   
   The bare TRUTH, is we are all at mercy of the elements.  In whatever form nature takes.
   
   Snow drifts, tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods..............winds,
   
   
   Do not blame your neighbor for the devstation of nature.........the TUTH is, whe never know what card she will play.,,,,,,,,,,,or where and when she will deal it.
   
   
   Get this.........nature  rules us..........we do not rule her..........GET THIS.

   How big an earthquake are we talking. There was a 4.2 in my area about a month ago and I just continued on with my work at my desk.

   I  guess it depends on how bad it was. I would hope to be concerned for my family first of all and when they are safe I would think about myself and others.
