Why does it take 8 months or more to really make any money on HubPages?

I have seen quite a few answers regarding the question of making money on HubPages and all of them seem to say give it 8-10 months.  Why?  What is happening in that time?

Largely it is because it takes this long for your site to gain any ranking in the SERPS. An unread article makes no money, but Google rankings take time to achieve, which is again why Keywords and Backlinking are so important to help speed this process up and get your site 'noticed' by the bots and spiders that crawl the various sites and articles.

It takes awhile to build up  standings in the search engines and attract views.  I have been on Hubpages for 7 months and I have only made a few dollars.  I don't have as many Hubs as some people do, but the average writer will find that making money online is not a quick thing, nor is it a magic source of income for most people.

I am by no means an expert but I would imagine that it gives you time to write plenty of quality hubs, develop a following and have developed some credibilty with google, bing, yahoo, etc. All of these things help drive traffic to your site, which would cause the clicks on your adds, which leads to making money.

I would expect that, like with anything else, momentum has to be built up. As you write hubs your exposure improves and more people will see your work. There are things you can do to improve this like SEO work, backlinking, etc. The best thing I've read is to just write great hubs and people will find them.

I think it takes time because this endeavor should not be looked at as a "get rich quick" plan. Hopefully, for those who have a passion to write and write well, this is a long-term investment.  I ultimately want to live off what I write, but the best thing for me, the character building experience is commitment, hard work and perseverance.

First of all you need some really good number of hubpages.  At least a bit over 60+ hubpages with some good page hits.

only then some earning shows up in your Adsense (now HP Ads program also has revenue potential).

It takes at least 6 to 8 months to do so.

Therefore, pl wait and work on your hubpages.  Some good and popular hubpages earns better pages hits and money!

Honestly, I haven't made much and I've been here a year. I would have to say in my case, I need more time. I need to find ways to generate traffic. I'm also kind of intimidated by the Google algorithms. Since Google cannot be questioned if they delete your acct.

Also, practice, practice, practice...on top of that, using all of the resources of the site. This is why I don't particularly view this kind of site as a money maker, I just do it because its what I like to do.
