Why do people criticize any religion?

Usually we get some people who love their religion but criticises others. I do not understand why they do this? WHy are they bothering so much about other religions?

People strive for conversion, but unless someone makes that choice on their own then their efforts will be futile and it will drive them away. People long to feel right.

Most of the people today do not tolerate anything connected with spirituality. They feel that technology and scientific inventions are rational one. They want proof for anything and everything. There are certain abstract qualities which can not be proved but it can only be felt by oneself. In that category, Love, Faith and belief systems occupy important positions. Religion belongs to those who have faith and belief in them. Reading a holy book would inspire them though there is no tangible proof for all those things contained in the book. Mother points out the father to the baby. can anybody demand proof? It is absurd. It purely depends upon the faith on one's own mother. Children believe everything they are told. They are innocent and love all and hence they are equated to God! When you fill the vessel with water, there will be sound till it is filled. Once it is filled up, the sound ceases. Until one's knowledge is full, there will be doubts and discussions. Once we become knowledgeable then there won't be any doubt. Likewise those who do not believe in religion tend to criticize them due to half knowledge.

I think because people do not know enough about the religion, therefore, they tend to judge a whole religion based on what they think they know.

Because they are afraid. If you are not confident in what you absolutely, unequivocally, know is the truth then the believer is satisfied. There is the hope that others will learn the truth as he/she has learned it - it  the purpose of those witnessing to others. Not criticizing.
