All entry level DSLRs are very similar image quality wise (at least at low ISO), so it really depends what features you are looking for and what you want to use the camera for.

Make a list of what you want to use the camera for, then compare the cameras to find which one has the features you want and best meets your needs.

Dpreview has a handy camera comparison page where you can pick the cameras you're interested in, and then compare the features: http://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/cameras

    Hope this helps

I agree it's very important what you want the camera for,but it's also important how it feels to you. So you need to physically feel the camera, the fit in your hand, what you feel comfortable with and the ease in which you make adjustments.

Go to a camera store, talk with the staff and handle a few cameras and see what you like.

    Good Luck!

I have had a ton of reports all good in favour of the Nikon D3100 It seems to be a well rounded easy to handle camera, I personally like the canon 550D These cameras are reasonably priced and should meet with most areas of photography however a little research goes a long way In regards what you actually want from the camera the cameras suggested above have reasonable ISO etc to take excellent photographs in most situations. you could always try the site below and see what you think.
