   Twitter and Facebook have generated the best long term results for me out of everything I have tried. I believe that is due to the relational factor. Digg gives me the next highest results and because of time restraints, I've stopped doing any other promotions for the moment.

   Yeah you def want to promote your hub on your FB and Twitter pages.
   Depending on your topic, leaving a link in the comment section of a site with related content where you are solving the asker's question works great as well.
   
   Yeah you can social bookmark to a few of your accounts as well.

   Well, first of all you have to write a really good hub on a topic that hasn't been done a million times already!
   
   You should always use multiple text and picture capsules and title the capsules with the proper keywords.  Videos and additional link capsules that are all relevant and all titled properly with keywords as well - can only help.
   
   My advice is to stay between 700 and 3000 words.  Much less and much more won't help you, and may hurt you.
   
   Some people do well without hardly ever adding pictures or videos or other links - you have to be a really engaging writer to pull that one though.
   
   Some simple backlinking will definitely help - but don't go off and join some service that promotes you....that's a very good way to get Google Slapped, or Sandboxed - or all other manner of nasty sounding internet voo doo spells aimed your way.

   Incoming links from forums are great - One of my best performing hubs is getting nearly half its traffic from a link I submitted as part of an answer in a web forum. Just remember to stay on topic and really answer people's questions, otherwise you risk getting banned from the forum sites. Good luck!

   Lots of traffic from Facebook and Twitter. I also try to read and comment on at least a couple of hubs a day. However, I only do that if I'm really interested and the article was well written. Otherwise, you're just playing games. I also have a ticker on my website with an RSS list of my recent HP articles.

   Great idea with the RSS feed of your hubs on your website Lori~ I'll have to do that on my blog I think.
   
   I use Facebook and, when I remember, Twitter but am not a natural at networking~ more reading to do methinks!

   I signed all of my cats up with separate broadband accounts.  I then had them all get Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, and HubPages accounts.  Whenever I write something, they all vote my stuff up, like it on social networking sites, and spam the internet for me.  Any time you see an icon that is a cat, there is a good chance it is one of my cats.

    I try to let organic traffic from Google and the other search engines do the traffic generation for me but I do occasionally submit an article to Digg or Reddit.

    The best way to generate abundance of traffic to your hubs is just to write a good one. Try to get a topic which can be very interesting to the readers and they could attract plenty of new visitors to your hubs.
    
    Even Facebook and twitter can help you in getting readers to your hubs.
