Of the two choices I like the 360 better but I like the Sony PLAYSTATION 3 the best.
Xbox 360 hands down. due to the greater features, games, power etc over Nintendo consoles.
I'd have to say xbox 360. It has a great variety of games. The only downside is that there isn't just a ton of kid friendly games. They are there but they are more plentiful on the wii. If that doesn't matter then ok, if it does you either need to get kinect as well or just get a wii instead
Xbox 360 allows for more interaction. I guess this would be my choice. I don't know what the price is on this compared to Nintendo, but the ability to get more physical exercise from it may cover the difference.
Xbox 360 has a better online community (if you're willing to pay for xbox live) and generally has more adult themed games. The Wii, while its online is free, very few games support it and it generally relies on cumbersome friend codes. Having said that, when the games take full advantage of the Wii controller, you get projects that break away from the norm and offer a truly new and exciting experience. Games like Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Metroid Prime Corruption will make you never want to play a game with anything but the Wii remote. So, in that regard, I would argue that the high points on the Wii are higher than the high points on the xbox, but the xbox is more consistent.
Hands down Xbox 360 with a large variety of games and true hands free gaming with the Kinect sensor you can't get any better than that. Though the Nintendo does have it's perks it is a back end device that offers a little for the money you pay.
With xbox live your gaming experience is taken to an all new level and with all the multiplayer games that are around you can't get any better. Yeah you might pay a fee per month, every three months, six months or once a year, but you get enhanced security and you also get an experience like no other.
Without a doubt, the XBOX 360 for its diversity, availability and lack of BS. The Wii doesn't support 3rd Party, so Nintendo relied way too much on re-releasing the same games over and over. So despite being titans in the 90s, they learnt jack from rivals Atari and SEGA. Did the Video Game Crash of 1983 teach them nothing?!
However it is safe from the liquidation of the FPS market for now. With the Wii-U we can expect 3rd-party support meaning better games (though that's not saying much when it comes to Nintendo), but it's still lagging behind in terms of processing power, visuals and audio.
To think that they'll fade away like Atari and SEGA....

I'm looking to buy a new console, but am not sure which one is the best to buy. I've been continuously told how great Xbox live is, how fantastic the Ps3's blue ray player is and how fun the Wii is. With the funds to only get one, it's a little difficult to choose.

Which one do you prefer, Xbox 360 or PS3? Do you have any of these?Personally I own them both, but I prefer the PS3. The only thing Xbox does better is the cross chatting (playing a game while chatting with a party on Xbox Live)
