In James 2:26, Saint James exhorts us, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without words is dead."
Our faith in our Lord Jesus goes beyond mere lip service, for it is in doing what is of Christ in this life by loving God more than anything that we may possess in this life, and sharing God's blessings in our love for others, then, we may see God pleased in us that by continually living in his grace and living in the light of Christ, we may become one with Christ, and one into immortality.
For living and believing in Christ, we may never die, rather, may be blessed to live forever.
Great response, Tangloa. We are immortal as soon as we are born, but to be truly one with Christ is to live forever in eternal joy.
Thanks for your kind thoughts teaches12345 and great faith. Blessings.
You only have to be born to be immortal. After that your body will die but your spirit lives in eternity until the Resurrection of Christ, when you get an imperishable body to go with your immortal soul. Good question, Reginald.
Good word, Civil War Bob! Based on the Bible, everyone ever born IS spiritually immortal - the spirit and resurrected body will enter into everlasting life or 'the second death' (Rev 20:6, 14). Faith makes the difference.
In the Holy Bible Jesus says that unless you are born of water and spirit you will not attain immortality or salvation. I have not understood this till now because no pastor or clergyman has been able to answer me satisfactorily.
However if one studies Christianity and other faiths in depth a philosophy exists which says that the soul is immortal, was never born and will never die. It was, is and will be always.
So it follows that we are already immortal.
Joe DiMaggio achieved it with a 56-game hitting streak. Babe Ruth, by hitting 714 home runs....

@ CivilWar Bob and All:
I agree with every answer given the last answer is acceptable when talking baseball immortality.
When asked by a spiritualist in an open forum "what is the difference between the spirit and the soul" I stumbled upon the answer while in contemplation. Plant, animal and insects all have souls but only man has a spirit the part of man that is the likeness of God. The Bible states "God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul."(Gen. 2:7) The Bible states also, animals origins were from the earth and the water was the origin of sea life. All these creatures have souls and seek to survive, but do so without the breath that resembles the Spirit that was breathed into humanity. These creatures don't have the capability to pray (communicate with a higher power) or advance themselves, the animals 6000 years ago have a similiar life style that animals have now and they're cool with that, but Man's spirit is ambitious and his worship takes him to a spiritual dimension that pierces time and space . . . direct that ambition toward God and command your soul to worship the Living God until you achieve immortality.
Plants don't have souls. I never met a plant with a personality.
Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ with all your heart and mind, accept His free gift of salvation, repent of your sins and be born again into the Kingdom of the Most Holy God to live for eternity in heaven. Deny Him and follow another god or your own fleshly desires and spend eternity separated from God in hell.
