What do you have for breakfast?
What do you consider to be a healthy breakfast? Do you prefer to have a big breakfast and smaller meals throughout the day or just a bowl of cereal or some yoghurt? In your opinion, what is the best breakfast to have when you are trying to lose weight?
I heard that the best breakfast for weight loss is actually a larger breakfast with protein. For instance, an omelet with vegetables along with fruit on the side helps get the metabolism going. You can switch it up, but just keep that in mind since you have a specific goal.
I agree with alecia's comment -- protein is a must for breakfast with fruit or veg. Omelettes are a great way to incorporate veggies and protein. I like to scramble eggs with some toasted nori (seaweed). It's nutrient rich and tastes kind of like spinach. For a quick breakfast in a hurry, a fruit smoothie with non fat yogurt and some almonds is delicious too.
I have a smoothie made with raw oatmeal, quinoa and fruit. Sometimes we have eggs as well, but protein is definitely the key to feeling full all morning. I think it's important to compliment the protein with something fresh like fruit.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I usually have cereals--choosing from oats/ muesli/ whole wheat bread along with some yogurt, one boiled egg, a combination of fresh fruits and dry fruits. I prefer to take fruits rather than juices. In dry fruits, I normally take 3 to 4 almonds soaked in water and 2 to 3 dry dates. The quantity is also important.
Thanks Rebecca, for selecting my answer as the best one. Have a good day.
Your answer is making me hungry. Good job.
I love this answer as well. I usually rotate between oatmeal, fruit, nuts and diary.
Cottage Cheese and Yogart mixed together. Great protein and that helps you function better for the rest of the day.
I usually have just coffee but if I am hungry, I eat oatmeal.
My absolute favorite breakfast is a piece of whole wheat bread with raw honey and flaxseeds sprinkled on top. The high fiber content keeps me full longer, and a high fiber diet can help aid in weight loss. Top it off with a glass of green tea for a fat-burning caffeine boost and you are good to go!
If you want healthy breakfast then eat kellogs. Otherwise bread with butter.
When I am running late for work, which appears to be everyday, I grab something with protein and a piece of fruit. On days when I am being good I have a bowl of oatmeal with milk and a teaspoon of sugar. Every Sunday morning, when my sons were home, I would make a big breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. They still love those big breakfasts often insisting on going out for breakfast when they are in town.
The best ways to lose weight vary by individual. You have to listen to your body. Some people, like me, crave protein in the morning. Others can't eat breakfast early because it upsets their system. Stil others a simple breakfast of a bowl of cereal and a glass of milk are enough.
Eating smaller meals more frequently is recommended by almost everyone for better weight loss results.
Considering I get Hawaiian Koko (blood), its only natural that I continue the tradition of big meals. As the saying on the island(s) go: "don't stop eating when you are full, stop when you are tired".... So with that in mind occasionally I eat what is known as a "loco-moco" two scoop sticky white, two beef patties, three eggs any style you like, with brown gravy on top. Mmmm....Mmmm....Mmmmm! Enjoy!
As a Type II diabetic, protein in the morning is key to a balanced blood glucose for the day. A quick omelet with veggies (green peppers and onions) is a good starter for me. My alternatives are a single piece of whole wheat toast with turkey and cheese or Nutella. For me, low carb and high protein does the trick.
