For me it would be "Fields of Gold". The lyrics pretty well sum up my view on my life and how I feel about my husband and our kids. When my time comes, I want it played at my funeral (hopefully Eva Cassidy's version).

For me "SUNSHINE ON MY SHOULDER", by John Denver.   His song came out in the late sixties.  I had started my young life and marriage at age of 19.   And I had a few disappointments that made me sad.  When that song would come on the radio, I would sing along.  To me it was a way for closure to the 'sadness' I knew and felt and made up for the 'loneliness' in my life, dealing with broken home issues.  There are many songs I have gotten attached to over many years of my life.  And some make me happy and bring back, 'good memories'.   Too many to recall to mention at this time.   But I enjoy newer songs too.

You know, he had some good songs, and he had some terrible corny songs.  But I was driven to really dislike him because of his haircut and glasses. Made him look like a Nerd Boy. Then he crashed into the Ocean  and the truth is, I hated him for that

The most meaningful song and one of the most beautiful to me is "You Raise Me Up"

When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary
When troubles come, and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be

There is no life, no life without it's hunger
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly
But then you come, and I am filled with wonder
Sometimes I think I glimpse eternity

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be

Another one is The Prayer by Celine Dione

'Another day in paradise' by Phil Collins. The best song I have heard till date. The way the song paints the picture of a homeless woman is sadly so true. Plus the song really makes us think about how we keep on complaining and cribbing about petty issues whereas there are so many people in this world going through such hard times.

A few words from the song are:

'She calls out to the man on the street
    'Sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me?'

He walks on, doesn't look back
He pretends he can't hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
    Seems embarrassed to be there

Oh think twice, it's another day for you and me in paradise
Oh think twice, 'cause it's just another day for you,
You and me in paradise, think about it'

I LOVE this question. I'm going to answer it The LONG way. Surprisingly, I am a person who has been given many "songs" by other people. I'm going to list them all, and if the reason is funny, I'll list it too.
MY OWN SONG TO MYSELF- MIDNIGHT RIDER by the Alman Brothers
because I am the baddest ass you'll ever know
MY HIGH SCHOOL SONG - BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE TALKING HEADS because when I was learning to smoke, I discovered I was a pyro
COMFORTABLY NUMB BY PINK FLOYD  It was one of my favorite states
DOCK OF THE BAY OTIS REDDING  "OTIS IS THE REAL KING" and 1 more, MELISSA , BY THE ALLMAN BROTHERS again. Hate this song
