Are a lot of Hubpage members from Mars?

I love this stuff, but some of the answers to questions sound like some people never left Woodstock. Why can't people answer the questions that are asked instead of answering what they think they are asked? Is going completely off course a way to try to dazzle us with your knowledge? I learn a lot more from people that keep it real. As Sgt. Friday would say, "Just answer the question."

OK, just answering the question: No. It seems unlikely many are from Mars.

Actually, I am from Mars, and you appear to be a dog.

Maybe some people are like me. Sometimes I don't read all of the added notes and answer as I understood it. Perhaps I am from Mars, Do Me a favor and answer one of my questions so that I can see how well you respond.

There you go. 10 yr. changes. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to reflect on my own personal inventory. I need that.

Maybe the answer should be "probably half". If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, then, if respondents on here reflect the gender split, then roughly half should be men.

Giving an answer to the other version of your comment, sometimes the question is not clear. I quite agree that the answer should address the question. I hate it when I hear politicians on the radio "weaselling" out of giving a straight answer and wish the interviewer would insist they give a straight answer! The problem is, that while one person will ask what they think is a straightforward question, the way it is written, or understood means that the person answering does not "see" the question in the same way as the person asking it intended.

This happened to me in the last few days. The questioner asked a question but did not seem to like my answers. Nobody else provided an answer and maybe there was no answer, certainly not one that the questioner wanted to hear!

Sometimes, I think that Hubpages and similar sites provide a very useful "journalling" asset for people to spout off about things that annoy them and that their friends and relatives don't want to listen to.

I can only speak for myself. My name is Carl Martian (Martin), but I'm not from Mars.

I know a lot about Mars, but very little about Woodstock.

Love Sgt. Friday, though and his sidekick, played by Harry Morgan.

I think some people see only some of the details of the question and get completely wrapped up in what they think it says. Then ego kicks in.

You are right. I just hate it when someone twists a question for the purpose of stating their platform or agenda. That's what hubs are for.

I guess it's maybe just the way that questions are interepreted by some people.

If you have a very logically minded person, then they probably answer briefly and to the point. If you have people who are more right-brained, then they may feel they need to put in more details to clarify their point. Then you have the small group of folks in between who just can't seem to shut up once they get started! Once they start on their rambles I'm sure they quickly forget what the question was and just keep on spouting whatever comes into their heads.

But some, yes, just want to show off because they think they are very knowledgeable and don't care if they are answering the question or not as long as they can get their verbal ramblings out! The sad thing about them is that no one is ever impressed by their words except themselves!
