Do you find "funny" as feedback on serious hubs offensive?
Looking at some of my feedback, I notice on one or two serious articles the feedback labeled "funny" has been clicked. Now there might be a humorous comment but the overall tone was serious and there were some people that disagreed with the overall piece. Should I maybe find "funny" as a slightly negative comment? Have you ever used "funny" to describe a hub you have disagreed with?
No I certainly haven't used 'funny' when responding to any hub that has serious content. Unless one or two folks have hit the wrong button by mistake, the only reason I can think off for using 'funny' is to either be sarcastic or it's their cowardly way of saying that what you have written - in their mind - is wrong.
Unfortunately you will always get idiots who just love to get digs in at other people - I would just ignore them and concentrate on the responses that are valid and useful - they're the only comments that count and that have worth in relation to your writing.
I have had the "funny" response for hubs that I felt very serious about, but it isn't offensive. Writing and reading are like that. You never know what another person will focus on or what their mindset is as they read. I just let people feel how they feel and am grateful for the fact that they have thought enough of my writing to actually read and respond.
Maybe someone disagreed with the view you expressed so much that they couldn't believe anyone would actually think like that, and so they assumed it was satire. Just take it as a compliment that someone read what you wrote and was moved enough to click a feedback button.
By calling attention to the fact that it bothers you, you're only enticing trolls to click the "funny" button. I believe someone made an issue of this on the forum a while back; the author was livid that anyone had dared to click "funny" on her super-duper serious article. And before you know it 10 more people had clicked funny just to spite her!
