Women are better at 'Multitasking' as compared to men. What is your opinion?
I believe it depends on what kind of multi tasking is involved. Every gender has their own strengths and weaknesses as well as it depending on their personality, their values, and what they are interested in.
It is of course, nonsense, women only believe they can mullti-task, like men they become inefficient,, when they try. Also, this question is divisive, setting one gender against the other.
Woman can multi task...I do so better than most everyone I know but thats due to being a perfectionist with adult ADD and Obsessive Compulsive. I am an overachiever and will do everything at once if I have too, thats why my previous employers love m
Both the previous answers at this stage have truths to consider as well as the comments made. Just perusing the thought I would have to say it is gender neutral, since the tasking has not been defined.
Genetically everyone has a predisposition for multitasking since it is innate. We breath, feel, see, hear, smell, touch, and taste incessantly without recognized thought. The capacity or ability is there naturally to do at least 5 or 6 different functions or tasks simultaneously, or it is at least perceived as such. Who knows maybe it is like a computer doing only one task at time answering yes - no with another 1 - 0 or sets and subsets of these. That would be an interesting avenue to pursue for a hub idea.
I would think a bit or a byte of brainstorming may offer a solution. Introducing the mind mapping techniques of Tony Buzan help may be found. Win Wenger's easily understood theories regarding visualization and boosting brain power could be like taking some Vitamin D or maybe B-6 and B-12. Who knows.
Let's see multi-tasking. I am typing these thoughts, I am thinking these thoughts and others, I am seeing two moose kissing at a stream on a postcard, this answer entry, smelling some incense burning mixing with sadly cigarette smoke, contrasting the darkness of the shadows cast by the lamp, watching the candle flicker off to the right, seeing a fairy figurine offering inspiration sitting on the printer, and savoring the odor of hot brewed cup of coffee.
The question becomes how to take that awareness and turn it into productivity as a multitasking event. I think I will write a poem.
I hope I did not venture too far with this enterprise. Thank you chitrangadaSharan for the initial question and abbykorinnelee and MickS for the contrast / compare to consider and ponder
Tim
Women generally have more efficient bilateral communication across the corpus callosum between the brain's two hemispheres, so they are potentially better at multitasking. I don't see this as a superior gender issue. Biology and evolution have simply programmed each for abilities that allow them to accomplish specific tasks more efficiently. A superior mind in either gender is of course capable of considering more than one idea, even competing ideas, at one time and functioning at an optimal level.
Okay, give credit where it is due. Yes, women are better at multitasking due to the make-up of their brains which are said to be a little different from males and better at this multitasking. perhaps it is due to the fact that women have babies and must be able to deal with all of the needs involved. More power to you ladies. Amen.
I disagree. Some individuals are better at multitasking than others. Some happen to be women; some happen to be men.
I've known some men who were amazing at multitasking.
I happen to think this kind of question is divisive and thus offensive.
Personally, I'm not terribly good at multitasking. Some of my employers have loved me for my abilities in multitasking, but I've know others who were far better.
I have far better multitasking abilities than my wife, but she's a better leader than I am. She has far better empathy and charisma. I hardly think it's because of gender.
Several lifetimes ago, I was a better leader and also female. Somehow the talent didn't rub off on my current lifetime. But I've also known some great male leaders.
Please. Snap out of the gender divisiveness. It doesn't help anyone.
It isn't about gender, its about the individual as you state. Unless there is some scientific empirical research that has been done several times with the same conclusion proving a causation for said issue and not just coreelating evidence, I agree
Well, sure they are and men will never catch up. Reason is because women realized before men that you can multitask much better if you only do things half way.
I think men put all their attention on that task and put 100% of their energy into it.
Where woman feel that they can split a range of tasks which only require a small % of their attention at a time. So hence we don't always give each task the same amount of attention.
Women have more white matter which is linked to multi tasking and emotional intelligent's. men have more grey matter which is strategy and map reading.
First, let me thank all those who have answered this question. This question was not meant to be a gender issue. But if few people have felt like that, I sincerely apologize.
As regards me, I have equal respect for both the genders. I have men and women in my life, whom I respect and adore. Any individual, who is doing something for someone or society or country, deserves respect and admiration, irrespective of the gender.
But most often I have heard 'Men', saying these lines, that women are good at multitasking---sometimes to praise their mothers, at other times, may be to pamper their wives or daughters. That's the reason, I was curious to ask this question here, to know other opinions.
Here I am tempted to mention, how women in today's society do manage their high profile jobs along with their home and family, which may not have been the case few decades earlier.
I agree with lone77star, that some individuals are better at multitasking than others.
My sincere thanks to lone77star, abbykurinnelee, Anti-Valentine, huckelbury, Sangre, Mick S, Dantex460, IDONO, Whonunuwho and tsmog for your interest in responding to the question and make this into an interactive discussion. I respect your opinion. Thank you all

Lady drivers tend to face car accidents, causing minor damages to the sides of the vehicle. Is this due to their comparatively poor ability to judge the width of the vehicle?

In your own opinion, should gender be based on sex, or on what a person feels that they are? Some people, even though born as a certain sex, believe that they are actually the opposite, despite what their body might be like. So do you think that people should have the right to claim their own...
