   What is the biblical equivalent of, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"?
   
   And what is your understanding of the phrase, ‘the road to hell is paved with good intentions’?

   For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
   
   24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

   I would suggest Matthew 7: 24-27 (NRSV)
   Hearers and Doers
   
   24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. 25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its fall!”
   
   Those who hear good teachings and intend to do them build their house on sand. For me, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" means that if we intend the good and do not do it, we do not become good, and we suffer the consequences.
   
   Note for the theologically minded. I do not mean that we are saved *because* we do good works. Rather, we are saved by grace. But when we ask, listen, learn, and act, then our faith in doing this and our good works both demonstrate and affirm that Grace is working within us.

   My understanding of the above phrase is that it is an inaccurate one. Good intentions often lead to good deeds. The desire to have peace in the world, I would say, is a good intention and we will see "many good days" when we "do good; seek peace and persue it." (from Psalm 34:12-14) Have a nice day.

      Logically, the two positions are not contradictory. "the Road to Hell is paved with good intentions" is compatible with "The Road to Heaven is paved with good intentions." The difference is, as you say, in the doing of the deeds.

   In the book of James it is said that faith without works is dead.
   
   In other words, one has to operate out of their faith.  Actions made out of surety due to faith, are actions worth doing.

   My understanding of the statement is that a lot of times we have good intentions with a majority of our actions, but sometimes our actions fall out of line with the word of God. Often times some Christians pass judgement on other's sins and try to force their beliefs on others with the "good intention" of  bringing that person to God. Realistically, we are only supposed to spread the word of God and teach others about God and his word and let them make their own decision.
