   Is it harder for guys to write hubs?
   
   I really enjoy hubpages, but quite often I find myself perusing hubs that aren't relevant to me. I'm a guy. I'm not sensitive or poetic. I can cook well enough to make pancakes and PBJ sandwiches. Before I met my wife I was sleeping on a bed roll. I'm barely house broke. My interests leave me with very little to write about that I would consider to be relevant content for hubpages. Does any one else have this problem? Any solutions? I'm having trouble finding my niche here.

   I don't think it is any harder for guys.  A lot of people have trouble finding that niche. 
   
   I can tell from your question that you are funny.  What about writing about that experience from being taken from a bed roll to civilized life?  That could be very fun and funny.
   
   Look first at what you read when you pick up a magazine.  What articles call to you, sports, hunting, cars, cooking whatever.  The old adage is often if not always true:  write what you know.
   
   And write every day. Sit at the computer and just write, what you think, what you love. It doesn't have to be good, or coherent, it just has to be on paper.  Keep that up, something will stand out and come to you. 
   
   When I was young I wanted to write a fiction book so bad. Not necessarily for publication but for me.  I can't tell you how long I had this driving need to write and yet nothing came to me.  I was experiencing a mild depression at the time as well. I would lay in bed and it took forever for me to fall asleep.  One night I started telling myself a story.  I wanted it to be a romance.  A story started and it shifted gears night after night, changed and morphed. Each night the story in my mind went a little further until finally I was looking forward to going to bed to see where the story went.
   
   Finally in 87 with the purchase of my first word processor it became a book.
   
   My point in telling you this is that you never know where or when the inspiration or ideas will come.  Sit back and be open. What do you love, like, listen to, watch?  From that you will become the creator and writer.  Good luck my friend...it is such an adventure.

      Thanks duffsmom. I need to sit and write every day. The bedroll is a good idea. I've been a goof my entire life. Could be fun to share some experiences!

   As a start, how about writing about what those experiences were like, what you learned from them and how they could help others? What about the etiquette of being a good houe guest if you're sleeping in someone else's house, or how the personal journey that you've been through can be an inspiration to others?
   
   It's always good to write from your own experience.

      I'll swing over and check out your hubs. My biggest problem is that I feel that hunting and fishing hubs won't do well on hub pages.

   Problems with writing, I believe, stem from fear of pouring yourself onto a blank page for all the world to read. We can only write what we know, and that has to come from within. The challenge applies to all writers to one degree or another, and gender has little, if anything, to do with it.
   No doubt there are millions of readers out there dying to see the world through the eyes of a college dad sleeping on the floor, living on pancakes and PBJ sandwiches and leaving sticky notes all around to remind himself to pee outside.
   You don't have to be relevant; just be readable!
   Of course, we all have "this problem" or some other problem at one time or another. Whoever told you this writing gig is easy lied their ass off to you!
   The soultion is simple: WRITE! A writer is one who writes. Stay authentic. Mark Twain once said the one accomplishment he was most proud of was that he had been authentic. Write, every day without fail, and your own authentic voice will emerge.
   When it does, your niche will find you.

      You hit one of my nails on the head Jim TxMiller. I'm a very private person who doesn't relish the thought of writing something personal. Many people have told me that I need to put my life story on paper. Maybe this would be a good place to start.

   I don't see that you're having trouble writing. You have a good stable of quality hubs going already on interesting topics. Perhaps you need to divide them up into groups or open a separate HP account(s) to sort them out according to how you categorize them. Then you could see which group you naturally give the most attention and go for it.
   
   I concur with all the other comments with the advice "just write". Sometimes that's the hardest part, just getting started. Our ego gets in the way. Think of writing and developing your voice as a long-term process that takes years. That should take off some of the pressure, too.
   
   Finally, keep in mind that some of the most successful hubbers don't just produce hubs from their own experience or likes. They also write hubs on topics that people on the web are searching for. After all, most of us are here to make a little cash, not be starving artists.

      Casimiro, I hadn't thought of categorizing my hubs. My list of hubs is a bit diverse. I may have to give that a try just to see how a series of hubs on one topic would work. Thanks for the advise!

   I believe you could write well as any other guy hubbers. Since you can cook, write what you cook everyday or what your wife cooks. Take those pictures or video an include them in yr hub. You can also write how you met yr wife, when you were down what happened, sleeping on a bed roll experience and what you like to read. I will be waiting to read yr fantastic hubs soon. Good luck!

    Some of the most prolific writers I know of on HubPages are men. Check out Epigramman, Ghost32, Docmo. mckbrdbks, and weestro. They write about what they know. Epi is 2nd year best poet on here. Will Starr and Wayne Brown are also good ones. Find what you know about and have fun.

       At first I was going to delete this answer, but I've decided to leave it up. It serves to remind all of us that society has failed our youth. My generation would never have thought of writing such a response privately let alone in an open forum!
