Why do you support President Obama?
My politics is moderately conservative. While I respect the man and the office, I don't think he can turn this country around. I may use some of your opinions in a future Hub. Please answer honestly and intelligently. (try to go beyond the fact that he has charisma or you hate the Republicans.) I will be very respectful if I use your opinions.
I don't support him. I thought George Bush was a bad president, but Bush was a saint compared to this guy. We've had a long run of mediocre presidents where I could point out good and bad things they did. I can't think of a single thing that President Obama has done that I approve of.
Sir, you are wasting your time looking at any US president closely.
Instead you should look at Europe. Why? Because when you look outside of the system you've known your whole life, you can actually see it for what it is.
Recently, in Italy, a political party swept the parliament and now holds 109/630 seats. They are called the Five Star Movement. This party was only founded in 2009. And it rose to fame on ... the Internet. Yes, you read that correctly: T H E I N T E R N E T.
Why am I telling you this?
Because that's what an actual democracy looks like. Where people actually have relevance in politics. Where old parties can be defeated.
In America, we are ruled by two century-old parties that control just about every seat from your town's mayor to county government to president of the union.
Two parties. Over 100 years. Total rule. TOTAL.
What, you think because one party competes against the other, that it is actually a functioning democracy? Ha! The Communist Party of China doesn't even hold all the seats in their Congress. Even they have an opposition front.
Speaking of Communism, a higher percentage of the population of East Germany played a role in their ruling Communist Party than Americans play in the American plutocracy.
The illusion of competition between two liberal, totalitarian (I know that sounds like an oxymoron) ruling parties is simply a psychological trick to make it look like something is actually happening in politics other than a complete and utter stranglehold by a plutocratic ruling elite that has controlled America for the past century.
The reason they do this is because they really don't care about dictating to us socially. That is not in the interest of this regime. All they care about is money and maintaining power with it. They really couldn't care less about gay marriage, gun control, or religion. They just use those things to put on a political show that in no way challenges the continuation of their economic rule.
Obama is just a man put in to entertain people. At the end of the day he is a Democrat, just like Clinton, Carter, and all of the other spokesmen for the two-headed plutocracy of finance and corporations. Goldman Sachs poured money into his campaign, just like they did with Bush.
Heck, if you read about the authoring of the US Constitution, you'll find that not every founding father was an idealist anyway. Quite a few wanted a republic for the rich. Basically a plutocracy like we have.
I don't support him.
He has made bad things worse, caused many of the problems himself and has no idea how to fix what is broken.
Instead he vacations, golfs and stays on the never-ending campaign trail when he should be at least attempting to govern.
He was never qualified to be president and remains completely out of his depth to this day.
Eh, I barely support him but he has done somethings it was way past time to do. "Don't ask don't tell" was ridiculous and an affront to gay people risking their lives for this country he got rid of it, he banned torture for US service men and women which it was way past time to do since we are signatory to the Geneva convention, he HAS turned an economy shrinking at about 4% yearly into an economy growing at about 3.5% yearly etc. etc.
I supported Obama in 2008, because Bush was so bad, but Obama is worse.
Right away, he broke essential promises he had made. Iraq war did not end on his first day. He did not close Gitmo. In fact, he later said that those who were kept there should be kept there forever, even if they are found innocent!
It's not that Obama is breaking promises, he's breaking his Oath of Office to protect the Constitution. He is saying sweet things on one side of his mouth and ordering evil things out the other side. Continuing the unPatriot Act, HR347 making it a felony to protest, NDAA with its indefinite detention clauses for Americans, Kill List including Americans, bypassing Congress numerous times including going to war against Libya (a country that had done nothing to us), and more.
But it isn't just Obama. The system is corrupt beyond belief. During each of the main presidential conventions in 2012, both parties ignored the votes from the membership on the floor! Incredible. At the Republican, the speaker merely steamrolled over the votes and declared the result contrary to those votes! At the Democratic convention, the Mayor of L.A. was caught off guard by the teleprompter, because he did not want to steamroll over the votes. He took the vote multiple times, before he was told simply to ignore the votes and declare the motion passed. Talk about corruption!
And please! 9/11 was an inside job. That is so obvious now, it makes me sick that so many Americans remain clueless or unwilling to look. I believed the government's official "conspiracy theory" for 10 years, before I looked at the evidence. At first, I was in denial, then outrage. Steel frame buildings don't fall at free fall acceleration without controlled demolition being involved. And 7WTC had perfect free fall for 8 floors! That means that the 3 buildings had been undergoing preparations for months! With tenants like the CIA and security being run by the Bush family, the next big question remains: When does the trial for treason begin?
Obama is a puppet, just like George Bush. Who are the real culprits? That's what a lot of people would like to know, including several thousand scientists, engineers, architects and concerned citizens at http://AE911Truth.org.
I'll be honest. I have been looking at this man as President for over 4 years now and I can't see what people see in him. This question was asked because I had hoped that there was some intelligent reason he has been elected twice. I had suspected that a certain part of the electorate voted for him because he was a nice guy, made them feel good and promised them stuff. But I believed (hoped) that there was an intelligent, thought out reason he was elected. If there is not, my hope in America has taken a real hit.
All the answers now are from people who don't believe in him or think he was better than the alternative. If you have any belief in Obama, please let me hear it.
I think President Obama has done a good job, considering all of the problems he has been made to endure, both personally and politically.
He has done a great deal to help all Americans through his desire to create a more affordable and durable health care system.
I do feel his heart is in the right place when it comes to doing what he can to help his country, which is more than I can say for most other politicians (of any party).
I've lost a number of friends due to my support of Mr. Obama, but I still stand by him.
I desire to be a Formula 1 driver too, doesn't mean I would have a clue how to drive one. Same with Obama.
Sunshine and good wishes don't make a president competent. Obama was never qualified to hold the position he currently occupies. Still isn't.
