How do you keep up with local, national/international news?

Many people don't watch the news anymore on television unless there's a breaking news story. Do you keep up with daily news primarily by television broadcasts, radio, online, newspapers, or listserves?

Hi janshares! Good question - I love being "in-the-know". At work we have a regularly updated news feed from the BBC so whenever anything happens, I am usually the first to know (we also stream BBC news live from a TV screen in our Reception area).

Apart from that, I read The Guardian regularly (online and in print). I find that I use my mobile phone more and more to keep up with the news (through various apps which are very easy to use). Twitter is also a good source of information - you can usually find out what's going on in your country just by looking at which topics are currently 'trending'.

Because I am Swedish, I will also keep up with news from Sweden exclusively via the Internet (or by calling my Mum!). I can even watch local news from various areas in Sweden online! And at that point, it almost feels like I'm there!

Wow, I'm a news junkie, too. Thanks for that great answer, Louise Lately.

I try to keep up with current events as best I can. I hate not knowing what's going on.
I happen to work for a newspaper so naturally I read the paper every day (and many days, more than one paper because there are usually copies of our competitors' issues hanging around...)

I also watch the morning news while I'm getting ready for work and will usually give the late news a quick glance before bed.

I don't keep up with local news much. However, like Louise, I enjoy watching/reading the news from other countries. The CBC and Univision do a much better job, in my opinion, of including news from around the world. I watch tv broadcasts and read/listen to online news. It's probably been about six years since I read a physical newspaper!

I want to know what's going on around me.  Our local newspaper is published and delivered in the morning so I read it in the morning or at lunchtime.  Then I watch the five o'clock news until they start repeating the stories.  Just enough information to keep me informed.

That sounds good. I have a need to know, too. Thanks for answering.
