   Is it possible to be a Christian and teach false doctrine?
   
   Today many people teach false doctrines, such as , all religions lead to God,  Everyone will be saved in the end (universalism), Reincarnation ( coming back as another person or animal). and other doctrines that Jesus never mentioned and which there is no scripture to support.    According to scripture, not your opinion, is it possible for these teachers of false doctrine to be Christians?   Pleas supple scripture for your answer.

   The only true doctrine is the Holy Bible in the context it was meant. A person who is a true christian will learn this bible in is right context and live by it. However, learning and revelation of the bible comes through the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals the context of God's word. And finally being a true christian is an never ending life long self study and learning process.
   
   Finally anyone teaching false doctrine is not a christian. There are those who teach false gospel according to Paul's writing in 2 Corinthians 11:4 which states:
   
   "For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or receives a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted- you may well put up with it."

      Amen  this is certainly the proper scriptural definition .    There is only one correct interpretation and only available from the Holy Spirit of God.

      Are you aware of how the "Holy Bible" was put together? It was political process to determine which (books) to include in the bible. This is why interpretation is an issue and there are many versions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_canon

      DS -all that is not important if we receive THE interpretation from the Holy Spirit of God whom we are told will teach us ALL truth.   any other source is how false doctrine and denominations are begun and  promoted

   The bible is all about interpretation!
   Some people see everything as being literal and others view it as symbolic or an allegory.
   Most people tend to "cherry pick" the verses they agree with and ignore the rest. In other words we (choose) our own sins.
   Another interesting thing about the bible is one can always find a verse that contradicts another verse. I believe there are many men and women who (consider themselves) to be Christians but do evil or bad things. Many racists or gay/lesbian haters often ignore "Love thy neighbor as thyself" or "Judge not less thee be judged".
   The 10 Commandments state "Thy shall not kill" and there is no "asterisk" like except for in time of war, death penalty, or self-defense.
   Having said that Ecclesiastes 7:20  states the following:
   "For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not." That pretty much says we're all sinners! Christians or not!

      dashingscorpio- I think you should read Peter 1: 20 (NKJV) which states: "knowing first that no prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation."
      The bible was meant to be UNDERSTOOD through the Holy Spirit. Not by one's interpretation.

      graceinus, You proved my point. There is a verse for every stance. celafoe, unfortunately too many people rely on ministers, priests, and others to (explain) what is written. If everyone "agreed" there wouldn't be so many different "denominations".

      dashingscorpio- I ask you to count just in the Book of Matthew alone how many times Jesus used the word UNDERSTAND or UNDERSTANDING. Jesus never once used the word interpretation.

      yes  all denominations are an abomination.   God says we are to have unity and that is only possible when we ALL come to the ONLY correct interpretation which comes from the Holy Spirit. WE are to seek only HIS understanding not men's , see  eph 4:13

      your eccleastes quoteand the 10  from the law is not scripture for the new testament church.   Christains are not sinners, they re righteous through the blood of CHrist but thay may sin .

      celafoe, "Thy shall not kill" is in the "Old Testament" as well. Should we ignore everything that was written in the old testament? Most people view the bible as (one) book. They start with Adam & Eve and continue through Revelations.

      ds-  shall not kill is a mistranslation .  the correct translation is "shall not murder".  God kills and has had His people to kill many people throughout  history.  there is much to learn in OT.  but the law is fulfilled and invalid.   we live in NT

   Everything nd anything is possible. So many are" christians " man- made members of a certain organization  being registered as " Christian  church " and false preaching is being  spread by " natural men"  which is contrary to the " Gospel of the Kingdom..." This started quite some time ago, the apostle was dealing with , " we have said It before and I say it again if anyone is preaching a gospel different from that which you received , let God's curse be on him" ( Gal. 1: 6-9).

   If you teach doctrine other than the doctrine Christ has taught, you are teaching false doctrine.

      i would say it might be possible to believe some false doctrine and be a Christian.  but TEACH false doctrine, based on Paul,s teachings i do not think so.   the 1st time you refused correction would disqualify you

      Have you ever asked why there are so many  Christian sects that teach doctrines that contradict each other? Christ only taught one gospel - His gospel and it is the only correct doctrine. Those who preach contrary to this are teaching false doctrine.

      true all denominations are abominations because of men that trust themselves not God.
      Jude 19  These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. (Spirit of God)
