Is it flattering or offensive when someone comments on a hub & promotes their own link on your hub?
I honestly don't like it. I also don't dig it when people post links to their Hubs in the Questions and Answers section - I think I read somewhere that we're not supposed to do that? To me, it just seems like the Hubber is trying to get him or herself more traffic. I'm sure others will see it as they're just sharing information about a specific topic.
True I sympathise with anyone wanting more traffic and finding a way to get it with the massive drop that a lot of hubbers have experienced of late. I don't think it affects your traffic if they post a link so what's the harm?
It's all a matter of opinion, but I wouldn't want someone using my questions for self-promotion. I get enough of that on Twitter.
Sharing a LINK in response to your hub, (unless you asked for more information on your topic) seems, at the least, to be impolite.
If you are writing about health, exercise and nutrition-- I think it is OK to say you write on the same subjects, but posting an actual link should be avoided.
Links in comments= spam.
I kind of think it's a bit annoying myself, but my hubs must bore people because most of them don't have comments.
If it is relevant I wouldn't be bothered by it personally. For example if I'd written a hub and someone had written one on the same or a related subject and sent me a link in a comment so I could read theirs I wouldn't think it a problem. Clearly I am interested in the subject as I've written about it and would welcome reading their take on the subject. It's only the same as the automatic links that show up with related hubs. That's just my opinion though!
i think its flattering as they believe that your hub is more to watch and would like to share some of your viewers to view their hubs.
If the link is directly relevant, I would probably allow it. If it is not closely related to the subject of my hub, or if I do not think is is a good quality hub, I would delete it. As for it being flattering or offensive, I think it is neither of those.

I am not looking to name names here as this happens quite a lot on Hubpages, but can someone please clarify whether or not it is against the rules for a Hubber to come to your hub, leave a comment and then include a link to one of their own hubs as a part of that comment. I know it says under each...

This has probably been addressed elsewhere but I haven't found the answer yet. Is it ok to post a link to your own hub in the comments section to someone else's hub on the same or similar subject? I just found such a post in a comment on one of my hubs and don't know whether its a good...

If a visitor to any given hub makes a comment I believe that's a good thing. But what if that visitor leaves a link, usually embedded into their name, to another website or another hub. Thsi has happened a lot and generates a lot of questions in my mind. For example; If the hub is on back pain and...

Do you think it's a good or bad idea to write an opinionated hub on a "touchy" subject?I do not mean offensive, obscene, etc... just strongly opinionated.
