Are eternal Heaven and eternal Hell not the human concepts only ?
With utmost respect to all religions and their adherents, I compel to think that if these two concepts are excluded from the religious texts, the people find all the religions on the same pedestal and a kind of reciprocity and mutual respect will usher in among the international community. So far I see these two concepts, people indulging in heinous acts create hell on earth itself and people acting in civil and modest way make a kind of heaven here. Do you think so ?
No. For those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their savior there is a wonderful place called Heaven that awaits us. For those who have not accepted Christ, well no one wants to go there. I am basing my answer on what the Holy Bible tells me. Have a great day!
JThomp42, I have utmost regard for your firm devotion to Christ who also stressed upon love rather than fear. So, if we inculcate love of God in us as He did it, we receive kingdom of God on earth itself. But then faith is faith or faith is God.
There is truly a strangeness that I see in people who live their lives based upon a heaven or hell concept. It does seem to me that we create our own heaven or hell. If I never heard of the two from a preacher or a book, I think I would still know about them. I have felt that I have been in both places here on earth.
The two notions being in religious texts is nearly irrelevant to me. As I think of it I do not think I know anyone who has a belief that is founded on the notions either. Maybe a preacher or two.
The idea of "if you do this you go to hell" and "if you do that you will go to heaven" do not fit in with my understanding.
From my experience, when I act in, receive much, and give much -- In Love life is pretty much heavenly. And life is hell when I do not. So I suppose eternity would not really be different. I bet that even if we went to exactly the same place some would make it hell and others heaven.
When I was battling cancer a nurse dude gave me my chemotherapy wrong. Methotrexate was one of the drugs. And he administered it so wrong that my blood felt like it was on fire inside of me. I passed out numerous times from the pain and there was nothing they could do to ease it, outside of a full transfusion. It passed in about 5 hours I think. It just was more likely that I would die from it than live.
Here is the strange part. after about 4 hours I got almost use to it. I was even joking and playing cards with another patient (who sadly did not make it).
Things that are hellish we seem to adapt to. Now imagine a God that could spend time figuring out how to make a hell last for eternity. Nope -- I just cannot buy into that. God no matter the origin of the belief is Love.
So I tend to agree with the idea that hell is man made. Can someone make an argument that it is expressly laid out in the Holy Bible. They certainly can. But no matter how you lay it out, the notion is in conflict with a loving God. And so to me, that interpretation is wrong.
But hey that is just me.
Your words," the notion is in conflict with a loving God," speaks it all. Some object to the notion that God is everything, yet we can say that without God , there is nothing. Nobody can restrict God to a book only. Love your response, thank you.
The concept of heaven and hell on earth is what I subscribe to. Not the notion that if I do something wrong I will burst into flames, but that if I do something wrong I will create bad in both my life and the world. The same for good. I feel that having an eternal hell and heaven gives people an out for bad behavior. It's like when people say we are all sinners. Sometimes it comes out as "I'm entitled to do bad because someone already gave their life for me" (again not all the time but SOMETIMES). When we accept that the only heaven and hell are here we are forced to reevaluate a lot of things. Far too many times I have heard people say "well he didn't get enough time in prison but he'll go to hell" It's soothing for some to know that those who don't receive justice here will be punished later. Reality is we need to work harder on doing good NOW, serving justice fairly NOW, and creating a heaven here NOW. I'm pretty sure if we worked toward that goal, it would simultaneously work for people of faith because they would be doing good to get into their eternal heaven if they still feel a need for that.
peeples, from your insightful response, it is obvious that these concepts do not have much following among all right thinking persons. God also wishes us to worship him out of love and not out of fear. We ourselves create fear of hell for us.
No, these are spiritual concepts.
Spirit created reality. Some spirit (most everyone on Earth) fell from the realm of spirit, into the dichotomous, action-reaction realm of physicality. Some want to return to spirituality (Heaven); while others want to remain in physicality (Hell).
The Heavenly Father -- like all loving fathers -- wants His children back. And He is not Homo sapiens, so neither are His children.
Aptly described concepts of Heaven and Hell. I think God is a Greater Consciousness and we all are part of it. This being so, everything is in perfect shape and to see difference is to live with an illusion. Thanks a lot for giving a nice response.

Where is Heaven or Hell actually located in a turning Universe? When Heaven or hell is spoken of there is the indication of direction, up or down. This becomes complicated in a turning and expanding Universe.
