Can an enlightened being be assumed as God in the likeness of God Himself ?

As per life stories of some enlightened beings ( Indian ), it is generally assumed that they are gods ( Bhagwans). In Sanskrit, an enlightened being authoritatively says," I am God ," ( Aham Brahma Asmi ). Now this is something very bizzarre and mind boggling. If someone asks such an enlightened being to tell what is happening in other part of the world beyond the place they      are present now, they cannot answer it. So how can they be like All Knowing God. This  phenomenon is as weird  as to assume Jesus as one 's saviour for one's sins and to be saved thus. Can someone explain it all ?

An enlightened being becomes Sarva sakta (all powerful), sarvagnya (all knowing) and sarva sakshi (witness of all). If only they wish/ opt to demonstrate to you (which they may or they may not), an enlightened being CAN tell what is happening on other part of the world. You can read in the biographies of great mahatmas demonstrating this capacity in some way or other.

Such capabilities are called Siddhis. Many Mahatmas won't bother nor encourage demonstrating their siddhis.

Have faith in a realized soul and surrender to him wholeheartedly. Absorb his teachings. Live with him. Then you can understand. (You too can become one if you strive hard and Guru's grace is on you!)

C V , if you are saying this, I can assume it as true because you are fortunate enough to have holy company of one such enlightened being Maa Amritaanandmayee. Still I am curious to know from more. Thank you very much.

To know "what is happening in other part of the world" is no big deal in my opinion Amigo. Many Seers, Shamans and Sorcerers can do this. And as C.V. Rajan explained, this can also be achieved through the practice of Sadhana: acquiring Siddhis abilities.

"I am God" is a perspective that can be reached by anyone. Some Sorcerers call this as entering the "god form".

So, good luck on your quest! : )

Mr.Happy, thank you very much for your response. As you put it,perspective of I am God is attainable but the person who attains such an state remains a human and cannot be called as God as you truly said entering god form. It is not becoming God.

Everything is Perception and Intent. You can hold the perception that You are only human. Or, You can hold the Perception that You are God, or God in Human form or ... whatever You wish. All is Intent and Perception. All is One.
      Namaste. : )

Mr.Happy, all is one, this beautiful concept is so effective that we ultimately see everything in the likeness of God that is One only. Feeling oneness creates a real love for all as God loves us. Great call back, thanks, friend.

Divinely inspired beings are referred as Gods in scripture because they are delivering God’s message and guidance, as a medium. They are acting as God’s representative or spokesman, like an ambassador who represents a higher authority. Prophets also possess knowledge of future events that is given to them. They are manifestation of God’s power. No matter how much people attempt to destroy a prophet with an ordained mission, they cannot. One example is Jesus (peace be on him)—despite everything he had to bear and suffer, his following and teaching spread the world over.
Scriptures has spoken of prophets as Gods but at the same time also made it clear that they are human beings subject to the laws of the physics. God decrees their victory through a system which while we cannot see, we sense its existence especially when you study the history of prophets like Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) who faced terrible enemies but still prevailed. In Islam, this invisible dimension is known as the ‘Ghaib’ or the unseen. In the Old Testament, it says about Moses (pbuh) “Behold I send as a God unto Pharaoh . . .”-- Moses is told in Exodus to warn Pharaoh with a spate of punishments that befell him. The Jews don’t believe in him as God. God informed Jesus that despite the conspiracy to have him crucified, he will survive just as Jonah survived in the belly of the fish. And Muhammad was told in The Quran that while they had beaten an army thrice their size at Badr who came to destroy him, he were assisted by an army of 3000 angels whom he couldn’t see.
Unfortunately, sometimes religious authority wrongfully exploited this concept to mean that holy men are Gods per se. But in my opinion this is totally false and a great pitfall. They are only Gods in the sense that they speak to us on behalf of God. Religious priests and pundits do this to exalt their religious founders above those of other religions for power and influence.
You are correct in your observation that if they were truly Gods, then they would be All-Knowing. Besides, if they were Omnipotent, then which one of them is the real God? How can they all be Gods? If God is All-powerful then there can only be one true God. You can call Him Allah, Yahweh, or Bhagwan or other names that are truly for the one All-Knowing God. But I would greatly caution in including Jesus and Krishna in that category.

amer786, thanks for your very sane answer and I am of the view that if God at all takes an human form, then that human form will exhibit everything exactly as attributes of God and no sadhna of any kind is required for such an entity.
