Is it cool for Christians to be hypnotized to stop bad habits?
such as smoking, OCD conditions, etc.?
If a Christian was sick would they refuse going to the doctor? I guess not. So to see a hypnotist is essentially no different; they deal with issues that are not always best managed by medicine. There's nothing spooky or spiritual about hypnotism; it's based upon a sound understanding of how the brain works. If we were to say that the Christian should just pray and ask Jesus to help them deal with the bad habit, then we should also do the same for physical ailments too and cancel health insurance. But that would be foolish wouldn't it.
Jesus should be enough. Any bad habit can be stopped with faith. Christians would not be for hypnosis because they claim that anything outside of Jesus is the devil. If you are open to alternative healings, then 1000's of methods will work. If you are a strict Christian, then Jesus is the only acceptable option.
The answer widely depends on what kind of Christian one is. If you are christian and think Hypnotism is someone trying to control you in a way you have no power over than its an issue. This is due to the understanding that one surrenders to God's will and power above all and hypnotism works within the mind to change physical mental and emotional activity. In a way it empowers whatever the purpose of the hypnotherapy is and, gives the hypnotist control to 'mess around' in the brain. Making a "zombie"-like state out of the person when it comes to the purpose for the hypnotherapy or whatever the wishes are of the hypnotist. To make someone a zombie, not being able to control their actions, is an old voodoo trick. Which is considered an act of the occult. This is why some Christians choose to not allow hypnotherapy. They are simply trying to be free of the occult.
What would serve God best?
Wouldn't the heavenly father appreciate more your own strength of faith?
Understand this: If you have faith, your prayers are answered instantaneously and in the affirmative, God willing.
Why add "God willing?" For the requirement of humility. Nothing should be done for the sake of "self." It should all be for the sake of the Lord Our God. Be humble but fearlessly confident. When you have doubts, God will deliver on your prayers of doubt, by giving you more reason to doubt. If you have faith, then you will have more reason to have faith.
Remember Peter when he stepped out of that storm-tossed boat onto the Sea of Galilee. For a moment, he had the faith to stand there before his master, Yeshua.
Modern medicine depends on pharmaceuticals which are largely petroleum-based. These are poison. "Modern medicine" is slowly killing the people. Just look at my Cancer Statistics. The West has become corrupt, feeding off of Rockefeller-style medicine and ignoring nature's cures.
Don't depend on another to control you into breaking a bad habit. You have to take control. You have to take responsibility. That is the only loving way to approach the problem—as a child of God who is waking up.
