What are you areas of challenges when it comes to being Married with Children?
Assuming the mother is a normal, loving, capable, caring one...
For the mother who has a husband who isn't involved with helping care for the kids, I'd say it's just the amount of day-to-day work that can be the biggest challenge.
For the mother who has a husband who does get involved but is clueless about what's right for children, child development, etc., then the biggest challenge can be having someone who works against her to the point where she either goes along with what's really not best for the children, or else that she's got (essentially) a live-in enemy with regard to what is best for the children.
Either way, lose/lose. Well, more accurately (and depending on how many children there are), lose, lose, lose, lose, etc. etc.
I'm fortunate that my husband helped with the kids a lot and we didn't have many conflicting thoughts about parenting styles or practices. If and when we did, he let me do it my way (which, by the way, is the ONLY area of our marriage where I did have the last say!) The kids turned out terrific so he now agrees we did it right.
Now, our challenge is having private time because they still elect to stay at home until they get married!
I guess the greatest challenge I feel is that when you are "married with children" you tend to be treated like you are invisible. Everyone comes first before you, and this is just the way it is. In a way, it is sad, but I think it is the right order of things....
