So hard to choose! But I have to go with Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, the series. Quickly followed up by Mick from Moonlight. Very sexy! http://hubpages.com/hub/Moonlight-CBS smile

They are my top two. But Angel is always first in my heart.

I actually really liked Cruise's Lestat too, though I don't care much for Cruise generally. Louis annoys me though. World's most annoying vampire.

I also really liked Gerard Butler's vampire in Dracula 2000. Delicious!

Oh, and Mark Frankel as Julian Luna from Kindred the Embraced. And oh geesh, how can I forget Eric on True Blood.

    I really like vampires. big_smile

It is so funny that you would say that, because my mother had to physically drag me into the theater.  I wanted to see it, but once we got there, I got scared and changed my mind.  My mom tried to tell me I would like it, but I started crying.  We couldn't go home, because there were about 5 kids with us that came to see it.  So I closed my eyes and she escorted me into the theater.  I was glad in the end though, 'cause it rocked.

The Lost Boys to me was just okay. I think all it had going for it was a good director Joel Schumacher who took advantage of the eighties mentality of coolness and transferred it to a modern-day vampire tale. It worked for him, though. As it seems that all contemporary vampire movies seemed to copy off from the movie. However, I think overall, the movie is at best average, as a horror film. You see, the horror genre is my favorite genre of movies, closely followed by Mobster movies. So I like to see a horror movie done with some class. Schumacher definitely does some good Cinematography, but The Lost Boys wasn't his best work. The greatest vampire flick of all time will always remain Dracula. The one directed by the greatest director of all time - Francis Ford Copolla. Anyone wanna argue this out with me, bring it.

The question was "who is your favorite vampire". And some think the Lost Boys is the best vampire movie. I have to say I haven't seen the others. Without sounding "killer-from-Scream-esque" what is your favorite scary movie cj?

    1. profile image0
fierycjposted 14 years agoin reply to this

I mentioned Dracula and I'll tell you why? First of all, the greatest vampire story ever told is of the novel, written by Bram Stoker. A lot of people attempted to adapt this into a movie, some did well, others flopped. But it took the expert-hand of Francis Ford Copolla to finally convey the true essence of the raw evil, which the Count epitomizes. In the movie, you Keanu Reeves and Anthony Hopkins at their best. You see classic Copolla visual creativity Godfather-style. In short, you feel the movie in a subtle, yet real way. After Dracula, my next favorite scary movie has got to be Evil Dead. Sam Raimi, the director is the reason why I wanna go be a director. (might wanna check out my hub on Raimi) Evil Dead was brilliant, mostly because unlike most scary movies, you never actually get to see any monster in it. Just the effects of an unseen evil, as it possesses people. This to me, is the true essence of evil. Unseen, yet potent. Another horror flick I like is the Hellraiser series. Yes, full of demons and creatures. But I loved it because it came from the demented mind of the one and only Clive Barker. You can only travel so far within the depths of imagination. The rest, you have to know it.

Keanu Reeves at his best? I think that he is just awful in this movie, hugely miscast. I would watch this movie more often if he didn't make me cringe so much and I love Keanu Reeves and own practically all of his movies. But this movie, along with the Shakespeare flick he did, are just beyond his acting abilities and it shows.

I am with you on Clive Barker. Hellraiser is a great movie.

    1. profile image0
fierycjposted 14 years agoin reply to this

First of all, Copolla has never ever messed up a cast. Reeves was as real as he has ever been. His character was plain, dreamy, and weak. This he conveyed effortlessly in the movie. Not to brag or belittle you, but we directors notice these things more than average folk.

        Hah, whatever. roll

The audience isn't full of directors. It's full of average folk. I think Keanu Reeves was miscast. You can claim he isn't based on your inside insight if you like, but your opinion doesn't hold more weight. There are plenty of crappy directors in Hollywood. I'm sure they all think their opinion on movies is more special too big_smile
