Do you  still think about your first love?

First loves are known not  to be forgotten  after all the years gone by do you still think of your first love? Do you still  think about the ''could haves,'' ''should haves,'' or ''what ifs?''

Hi thank you and it is sad that your parents were so against what you once had.

Yes! In fact, I am still with him now and I consider him my best friend. I believe that it was the best decision in my life to maintain our relationship.

Only when I take a trip down memory lane or reflect back on my life. It's not an instance where I wish things would have turned out differently because that would mean so many other great things that happened in my life most likely would not have happened.
When I look back on my youth I see how naïve and unrealistic I was at the time. It's very easy for us to "romanticize" the past when we're unhappy with the present.
Oftentimes what made the "first love" so special was not having any serious obligations/responsibilities or demands on our life.
For most people their first love happens while they're in school or college and their parents are taking care of the bulk of their living expenses. You are free to focus on school and your mate.
Most likely you've never been hurt, betrayed, or disappointed and therefore you are less guarded and completely open.
With every failed relationship we learn lessons about ourselves and also learn to identify "red flags". Where as before we could not see the forest for the trees we now have a perspective where we're able to take a step back from time to time to examine a relationship while we're in it. We're not blindly moving along in an all consuming manner filled with unrealistic expectations.
It takes much more courage to fall "in love" a second or third time because we've experienced the pain. When I think about my first love I marvel over how far I've come and how much I've learned. There are no regrets.

Yes. Surely I do. But, alas I am married to someone that I love more than my first love.

I think we always think of our first love. My first love is a successful professor at a large university. He was my senior prom date, and I shall never forget those great high school years. Of course, I was young and immature,.but it  lasted about two years. We had fun and good experiences, ensuring the memory will last forever.

I don't even remember her last name.  I have a wonderful wife and we have two great boys together.  When I think of love, they are the only ones I consider.

Heck yes I do. And every so often I get a bad case of the "What If's", what if this we had continued together, we had had children, what if...?  If only we had had a crystal ball, right?

Hi billys1  sounds like you have some issues to solve if you are still alone. Sometimes you just can't let go. Thank you.

DDE, No I am not single I am married and not about to jeopardize my marriage for any of my past "what if's" no matter for whatever or whomever. However, I believe we all have what ifs of our past life, what if we had done this instead of that, etc.

No. No, no, no. It was bad from start to finish. So, no. never. never. Except to think, "Oh thank God THAT ended."

The first love is always fabulous. It doesn't matter it last long or not but it make us learn the value of love.
