What is something new you have learned recently?

I believe each new day is an opportunity to learn something new, and I do!  No matter how long we live on this earth, we never stop learning, which is an exciting thought, at least for me.  Whether we learn something new about life or just how to do something or even a tiny bit of knowledge is learned, it is of value.  What is something new you have learned recently?  It would be great if you would share what you have learned no matter how huge or even insignificant, it is learning.  Thank you for sharing what you have learned recently.

I agree with your sentiments.  I learned recently that I can make my own reusable silicone molds for soap and that it's super easy and cheap to do. You use white silicone, corn starch and baby oil and then you can cast items to make 3D molds.  I can't wait to try it.

I learn a lot of cool art and craft tricks watching YouTube and cruising Pinterest smile I'm also a voracious reader and love the idea of learning every day.  Great question.

Hi Christin, wow, great answer!  I may have to give the reusable silicone molds for soap a try too.  I am always learning something new about art and how to make things from household items around the home. Reading is a learning experience every time

I recently learned that the Social Security money I leave on the table by waiting until my full retirement age five years from now will take me to age 80 to recover.  My husband is waiting the four years because his will be significantly higher if he waits.  By the time I'm 80, I'll most likely be drawing his anyway and that money I left on the table will be gone forever.  So, in spite of thinking I'd wait to 67 draw mine, when I hit 62 I went ahead and applied for it.  Lower wage earner?  Talk to an advisor about your situation, not just the higher earner in the household's situation.

Hi Kathleen, I have been thinking about that very thing of when to draw it out!  Thank you for sharing what you have learned.  Great suggestion there that I will surely heed!

Just an hour or so ago I learned by reading at HP that flax seed will lower cholesterol and also ginger tea may; so I went to make a pot of tea and instead I cut a watermelon up and put in containers; took the rind out to the chickens, came back and cleaned the kitchen and now I have to go back and make that tea!! lol

Hi Jackie, I recently learned that about flax seed too by reading at HP. LOL about the tea and watermelon. We may need to read up on natural remedies to help with memory : )

I remembered it but my life is like 101 things need done first! I just bought fresh ginger yest so I let a good chunk brew. I use to put ginger in smoothies I made all the time but have gotten lazy; have to get at it again adding flax & ginger!

Faith don't laugh, but since I go to almost every movie in existence, I did not know what "Southpaw" meant - it is the name of a movie...and it seems that everyone on this planet knew what it was except for me!  My husband patiently told me it means you are left handed.  I said to Dave, "how long have you known that?" and he answered "all my life."  I think I was born under a rock.  Of course I really can't stand the boxing sport, but I liked the actor in the movie which is why I went to see it.  I know something else happened this week too that I learned.  I'll be back if I remember it!  Great question!  love Sparklea smile

I've learned to be patient. And, that patience brings its own rewards.

Woo, Dana, that is a good one there for sure!  It has taken me my whole life to finally learn about patient.  Maybe it is something we gain as we mature.  It certainly has its rewards.  God bless you

I just learned that you can actually eat the leaves of mint raw and it tastes kind of refreshing. Recently, a visiting friend went out to my garden and pulled a few leaves off the chocolate mint bush. She popped them into her mouth and started chewing them. I had never seen anyone do this. I always steeped the leaves for tea and then discarded them. She handed a leaf to me and said, "Chew on this." I did. It felt so good on my tongue and now you can find me chewing on mint leaves after dinner each day.

Hi Marlene,  Oh, I think I just learned that too from you!  I kind of thought you could eat it but wasn't rally sure.  Woo, I felt it did feel great and refreshing.  Thank you for sharing.  I am learning a lot from this question.

Please, don't laugh. I am serious. I learnt that one can not avoid negative feelings coming from. I just learnt that one of my hub can't get featured even I edit it for 100 times. It is the one - "my tribute to my spouse".
Each time I edit it and republish, it comes with the message - A Friendly Heads Up: Your Hub Could be Featured! and it gives all the same lecture that all of you know. Yesterday, I added one para at the start with instructions of "How to write a tribute" to make it look generalised topic and removed two photos also. But no fruitful result.

Oh, Ven, I am so sorry about all of that especially being it is a tribute to your spouse. Don't give up! Hugs

I recently learnt where Pi comes from and how it's derived. I'll never need the information, but it's a great feeling you get when you discover something you didn't know before.

Thanks Shaun, I'm afraid to ask just what is Pi ... Do I want to know? It is a great feeling when we learn something new, especially something positive and useful.

It's a number that relates to circles. Unfortunately it's not that useful, it's just something which interests me. So much so I might even write a Hub about it.
