Which free WordPress themes have the best features?

I am starting another new site using WordPress to sell items I make that can be customized.  I don't want to invest in a custom theme just yet and I am wondering what free themes are the most customizable and user friendly? I like the Oprum theme, but looking for others to try as well. What do you use and why do you like it?

There is no best WordPress theme, or best feature combination, for everyone. One of the great things about WordPress is that it is that it's so flexible, so the features that are important to you might appear the focus of one theme, while other features important to someone else might appear in another theme.

The best thing to do is to test out the themes that look good to you, and imagine how you might use them with the site you have in mind. You don't mention whether you're using a copy hosted on your own server space, or one of the free sites available at WordPress.com, but either way, always use themes from the theme repository hosted by WordPress, rather than free themes you find on other sites, to be sure you're getting a theme that is safe.

Word press allows you to use your own creativity. I would also recommend that if you have any friends out there that are computer guru's to consult and get their advice. They can really be an asset to help you make it your own with professionalism and beauty.

There are many good WordPress themes that you can use free of cost. To limit the choice to just one and say that it is the best according to all is a pretty tough choice. I personally prefer AccessPress Lite. Why? It is because you will get all the necessary features that are required for carrying out the work in the most convenient manner. Here I will discuss a few exciting features for which I like this theme the most:

    1. The multiple color scheme feature is really a helpful one for the WordPress users. You can change the color to your desired one with just one click.

    2. You can switch the header among the four layouts from your selected list. Also you can enable the sticky features too.

    3. There is the multiple portfolio layout feature. You can display the portfolio in 2 to 4 columns. Also you can use the traditional layout.

    4. The typography option allows you to choose between the numerous Google fonts. You can style the fonts with different colors, sizes etc.

    5. If you need more columns, then the multiple column window will help you to switch to right or left. Even if you want a no sidebar option you can do it.

    Hi Christin,
The trend at present is for flat design, responsive, so that viewers can use the site on any of their devices.
There are several themes, some based on Bootstrap framework, some on Genesis, but all are really easy to customise and you will be surprised at how many variations can be achieved with one theme.

My (current) favourite is OnePress, a free theme from WP. I have been designing a website for a holiday park and it looks great in that theme.

Because your aim is to sell, then you need to be sure that your chosen theme is compatible with the ecommerce plugin you will use. To that end, you may find  themes made by the ecommerce plugin developers that fit perfectly together.

    Good luck with your venture.
Hope you find this answer helpful.
