The question of the after life can come under many definitions of belief,  the Egyptians believed in it so much
They truly had a book of the dead, they also buried items in the grave with them including their families and servants.
This is where some believe in it come from.
But again as an example, when  Noah was declared a righteous man he did not die in the flood waters , but a vessel was built to save those
Who lived according to God's standards and not tainted from the population on earth at that time.
Again we face another clean up. No people will not be rushed up into a heavenly realm just because they are good, the earth is still good for
Humans and those left here after the clean up
Will make earth a paradise in every sense.
    Mentally , physically,  economically.
War , hate , crime, greediness will be forgotten.
If people can not learn and be educated here on earth first then why would God allow badness and ignorance in his peaceful realm .
No he will not allow it ,
Remember satan was thrown out of heaven by Jesus Known as Michael.
Re 12:9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.
There are no rebels in Heaven  after death a human does not go to a after life. But waits for the resurrection hope to rise on earth again when cleaned and paradise restored,
Joh 5:28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice
Joh 5:29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.
So what ever you do in this life as being educated by Jesus will be determine by your answer to accept or decline truth, to inter under his administration.

Ps 146:4 His spirit goes out, he returns to the ground; On that very day his thoughts perish
If your thoughts perish how can you know anything mentally

I don't believe the spirit ever dies.
However the notion of a heaven or hell does seem to be a way to get people to behave according to one's religious beliefs or suffer the consequences. It's been said that even you are a "good person" but have not accepted "Jesus Christ as your lord and savior"...
    You're going to hell!
Clearly this suggests the "afterlife" message is a recruitment tool.

Interesting dashing you are both right and wrong, the spirit does not die because it is God's power it keeps you breathing
His power does not die,but our flesh uses his power like a battery or charge, once this power charge leaves the body dies.

The body is just a shell to get around in. When the body dies the spirit transitions. For those who believe in the afterlife it either goes to heaven or hell. However the spirit never dies!

I like your use of words for this question....

My view is that the afterlife, so called, feels more real than what we live here. This dimension we live in here, is so very narrow.

The word afterlife implies something after the main event of our life here... But really it's the other way round. Our life here is the most microscopic segment of time and experience in the totality of all things...

How sad to see our fellow beings leave us for a while, for a short stint in a flesh and blood body... Why on earth would anyone commit to that?? :-))

I believe there is a higher dimension that our spirits typically reside in and originate from but I wouldn't necessarily call it an "afterlife".

I feel like those who believe in an afterlife tend to take this life more seriously than those who don't believe in an afterlife. As I've said before though, we live in very different places.

There is no afterlife, and there is no reason for afterlife, as well as there is no evidence of an afterlife.

Feel free to delete my answer, for any reason.

I believe in a spiritual life after death as described in the bible. I believe this beyond a shadow of a doubt. I believe that the spirit that is me here on earth was manufactured spiritually and not just another coincidence of billions and trillions of coincidences that make reality a whole.
