What denomination do you identify as?

What denomination is your church apart of? What are your core teachings? Why did you choose this denomination?

I grew up attending a Lutheran church, but when my family moved to a different town we began attending the local Presbyterian church (which we were told was "more or less the same thing").

It's been a while since I've been to either one but I guess the "core teachings" were the basic stuff... God is good, He's got the whole world in His hands, etc., etc.  Not much of the Hellfire and brimstone jazz.

I think the main difference is the teaching on Baptism. Lutheran's practice infant Baptism (at least the LCMS branch does) and hold to the belief that Baptism saves. Also on the real presence of Jesus in Communion.

Kris:  Under NEW COVENANT (WHERE WE CURRENTLY LIVE which is "After Day of Pentecost"), Disciples of Christ ONLY baptized in Jesus' Name!  Why don't YOU (RELIGION)?  It KILLS!

I am Inter Faith and see no difference between one religion or another. They each have a beauty of their own and something unique to offer. Each religion evolved in different times, places and cultural circumstances and needs to be respected. There is no "superiority" between religions. Such ideas od superiority are a basic spiritual error: it is the same as seeing superiority in race and is highly undecoming of anyone professing a religion.
That said, the only thing worse than denigrating others religion is the atheist habit of denigrating all religions which verges on insane hatred.

"RELIGION" is NOT of GOD!  "Respected?" (Gal 1:6-9)!  Don't you believe WORD?  Can't compare SPIRIT (GOD) to ("race") flesh!

      II Cor 4:3!

oz  in other words, you choose to follow apostate men instead of God, who says all denominations are an abomination    You post is totally contrary to scripture

MY GOD MY GOD!  Why has Satan done this?  Why does one NOT "worship in Spirit & in Truth (Jn 4:24)!  "TRUE WORSHIPERS" MUST do this (Jn 4:24) or ONLY looking @ WORD "literally"&"the letter killeth"(II Cor 3:6)as w/father & son v Father(GL

anyone that identifies as a denomination does not understand scripture and is probably a churchite not a Christian (Christ follower)  because the bible clearly says we are to become of ONE SPIRIT , not 40000 denominations of men.   It also identifies those that start denomination as apostates and are not the be trusted as they will lead you into  THEIR Kingdoms instead of the KINGDOM OF GOD.

YES!  ONE SPIRIT (Eph 4:4-6) as is the Father, Son & Holy Spirit (+ MORE "GLORIES") "ON ONE ACCORD" (Phil 2:2; Rm 15:6; Acts 2:1)!  W/o NUMEROUS denominations (Is 53:6) will continue via RELIGION (Satan) (Prov 14:12; 16:25)!

Denomination? (Galatians Chapter 3)? Man made=Not in Bible!  Church (building; Acts 7:48)? NONE! "Core teachings" not of man "...but by "revelation of Jesus Christ" (Galatians 1:12)!

Disciples of Christ believe NEW COVENANT (IN WHICH WE CURRENTLY LIVE) or "After the Cross" (After the Day of Pentecost), and DOCTRINE is "THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST" as is the apostles' (Acts 2:42; I Cor 11:1)!  Do you?

If not, Galatians 1:6-9 or "ACCURSED!"

Thank you Oztinato and Keith for answering. I asked this question to see what kind of faith backgrounds are represented on HubPages. I myself am Lutheran. I chose The LCMS church because after much study, I found their doctrine to be the closest to what the Bible teaches.
Again, I appreciate both of your answers and look forward to conversing with you on other questions. Best wishes, Spiritus Shepherd
