Do you tell lies to get out of a troubled moment?

Some people choose to tell lies to get out of trouble. Do you think it is  a good idea to tell that lie?

No. Honesty is the best policy. One lie always leads to another.

Devika I can answer this honestly. I used to be a bad liar. As my brother told me "Eric, you lie like a rug". But I can tell you at that time in my life I did things I was ashamed of and facing the truth was just too much for me. I did not even have evil intent -- I was just a liar. I do not think I was pathological but close. It was a horrible way to live.
At some point I wanted to change that behavior and so I did. We do not have to and should not live that way. I do not say "honesty is the best policy" I say "honesty is the only policy". What comes of it is the light upon things. And dark secrets can kill a man.

Honestly is the only way as said in some cases you had to lie. Well said! Thank you.

Yes, rarely. Because telling white lies will always depend on to what extent  the circumstances are. You will always need to weigh your decisions before  doing things at a certain moment. But doing it frequently as a futile excuse, won't never be permissible. Remember, whatever the means and ends you are up to, it is still a LIE.

I believe everyone of us has lied directly or by omission at one time or another dating back from early childhood. It's human nature to want to avoid pain. Whether one seeks to avoid feeling the raft of pain from someone else or causing pain to another; person people lie.
Oftentimes we lie about how we (feel) or what we're really thinking.
They sometimes lie to avoid disappointing others.
Sometimes people tell "white lies" not to hurt people's feelings.
"You can be anything you want." "No, you don't look fat in that dress."
In other instances it is to encourage wonderment about life "Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy" are all lies told to children by parents.
Sometimes people lie to keep secrets: There's a surprise birthday party or upcoming marriage proposal that is planned...etc
Your boss, sibling, friend or whomever confides in you and you promise not to reveal their secret if anyone asks.
Some people lie to (impress or win) over new admires.
People lie on their resumes about past job experience, education, or previous salary. They claim charitable deductions on their tax forms that were more than they actually donated. The list goes on.
My point is anyone who says they don't or have never lied is lying!smile
We simply have our own definition of what is a justifiable or white lie.

To say "never been in troubled moment " for me is better to say even if a troubled moment occurs, in my nature is always to tell as it is. The truth and truth only. Actually my life's schedule is busy planing end executing my plans with a trouble free events, that wouldn't have chance to get in any trouble at all. Who need trouble when life can be beautiful anyway ?!
