Why does the bible not speak of Jesus's teenage years?
Story goes from him being a baby, nothing in his teenage years, to him in his 30s or 40s. I've always wondered what went on in those missing years. Does anybody know?
There was one episode mentioned. Only in Luke, I think. It involved temple elders.
Years ago, I've also heard some, erm, very blunt discussion of why there's no mention at all. Let's just say those theories ran along the lines of, the Big Guy being an archetype, rather than an actual person.
Matthew
I believe that he started teaching when he was 12, and we really didn't hear anything about his life between birth and 12.
We need to remember that Jesus was Jew and every Jewish child must be taught the Torah from age 4-5. At age 12-13 they present themselves to a rabbi to be his disciple. They remain disciples till around 30yrs old. But we know from scripture that Jesus didn't have a rabbi because it says that no one taught Him, but God taught Him. Scripture also refers to Jesus the carpenter which would mean a rabbi didn't take Him because if a rabbi had Jesus would have left his father's trade to live full-time with his rabbi. A great video series to watch that expounds on this really well is "In the dust of the rabbi"
No, He laid down his deity and became fully man. He cannot be a High Priest if He didn't experience temptation and suffering as we do. That's how He can make interception for us before the Throne of Grace.
There are Coptic Christian books in their Bible and stories that talk about Jesus from age 2 through childhood, years the Catholic Bible is silent on.
yes, I bought a copy of "the other Bible" years ago and it had a lot of "Books of So and SO" in it . That had been taken out of the Bible by long ago priests, I believe. I think Young JC killed his teacher. But I may have that wrong. Studied in China
We know bible version of Jesus is partly mythological with difference with the real one and it is hard to tell the true from fiction. Problem of traditional study of Jesus, is done by christian religious scholars not real historians. Christian scholar has been taught to be submissive to the bible and trusting and not questioning, so, many question that should be ask, have been missed, some christian scholar even believe, Jesus really is of a virgin birth.
Only in recent years, did historians started researching Jesus, providing many new insight religious scholar missed. Jesus is in fact more mythological then we think, a combination Israel folk tell, then politics, mythology and Roman Emperor Tiberius.
Jesus of Nbazareth was originally a play written by a Jew name Peter, who is Emperor Tiberius' personal friend, in the play he also wrote himself as Jesus' first apprentist Peter. During that time, Judiasm was fuel with Taliban style violence, many of those violence can still be found in modern bible e.g there are 3 bible passages that teach you to kill a non believer and 2 that kill you to kill a unwed woman who is not a virgin. This led Rome to see then Israel as a threat and conquer it, before been conquer, the King of Israel told the people a man name Jesus would rise to lead them to overthrow Roman rule, as a result, there was number of revolt led by people name Jesus, but all failed. amount them even 1 who went to India to be a Buddhist monk and then return and after failure escape to India again (his grave is still in India)
Tiberius decide to take a different approach to the Jews and became loved by the Jewish people, during his visit to Israel you can see great parallel to that story of Jesus' missionary one of the most significant is the story of Jesus saved a woman from been killed for been a whore, Tiberius during his visit, pardon every jewish woman that was to be executed under israel law, for having pre marital sex. Knowing Jews love Tiberius, Peter wrote a play with a new Jewish messiah name Jesus whose missionary story parallel Tiberius' visit to Rome. Later version of the play added parallel to Egyptian mythology of sun god Ra been born of a virgin, baptists at 30, has 12 apprentists but betrayed by 1 and executed, but raise to heaven after 3 days.
Pre Tiberius Emperor take a more radical approach of suppression, even killing anybaby whose name is Jesus, this eventually also become a part of the story of Jesus, also.
Mate, it takes a whole lot more faith to believe your story than it does to believe the bible, which has been proven to be the most accurate historical document in existence.
The bible cannot be self authenticated.
Historical is not authentication, and God is still missing in real life, and no news in 2000 years. Genesis is vague, ambiguous, and not written contemporaneous with the events it depicts, and written by humans
I'll show u one lecture and 1 documentary on the topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljRKhZ81aqY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwUZOZN-9dc
There's a lot of wisdom to be had in the Bible, It can accellerate your journey to the place beyond eternity. Also good is "the other Bible" its bits they threw out. Sorry Peter, You can't Logic away the Saviour, and that wasn't even a good try
I am a little fuzzy on this but for some reason I think there were books that were written of such a time. The battle that went on at the Council of Nicaea eliminated them from what we know as the Bible. If I remember correctly the reason that they were eliminated was that they revealed that Jesus had somehow gained knowledge of the Eastern beliefs.
I cannot immediately back that up historically.
That is what a lot of theologians believe.

Why does the Bible threaten us?I read the Bible and it is full of threatening words. If you don't believe in Jesus and accept him as your Savior you will go to hell. If you kill someone in self defense you will go to hell. If you steal a crumb of bread when you are hungry you will go to hell. All...

Reincarnation: did previous lives happen? And what does the Bible say about it?I've been hearing a lot about previous-life experience lately. Though I'm skeptical about it, I admit that I like to think it was true. Does the Bible say anything about that? Are there any scientific elements to support...

Does it matter to you if Jesus's skin color was Black or White?I am so sick and tired of people making a issue out of what color Jesus was or what color were the twelve tribes of Israel or if God is black or white. For me, I personally I DON'T CARE what color any of them were or are. There is no...
