   How do you approach voting from a Biblical standpoint?
   
   So many of my Christian friends have opposing opinions on whether or not we should vote in the upcoming election because of the religious affiliations and moral standards of the candidates.

   It does not matter who is elected because the way the system is set up all elected representatives must do what big business and the state bureaucracy want, not what “the people” want. Elected representatives are figureheads. Politicians’ rhetoric may change depending on who is elected, but they all have to implement the same policies given the same situation. Elections are a scam whose function is to create the illusion that “the people” control the government, not the elite, and to neutralize resistance movements. All voting does is strengthen the state and the ruling class, it is not an effective means to change government policy.
   
   Although elections do not secure popular control over the state, they do help secure state control over the populace. Voting is a ritual that reinforces obedience to state authority. It creates the illusion that “the people” control the state, thereby masking elite rule. It is in the interests of governments and corporations to promote voting because they serve to legitimize the system and reduce unrest.
   
   Actual power lies with big business and the state bureaucracy, elected representatives must do what these institutions want. The White House and Congress don’t really make the decisions; Wall Street and the Pentagon do. Who wins the election makes no difference because all politicians must do what the elite want. Elections are a scam whose function is to neutralize resistance movements and dupe ordinary citizens into thinking they have some sort of control as they spoon-feed citizens with legalized mainstream propaganda.
   
   The illusion of choice has become apparent. The establishment anoints their two picks for president, and the country proceeds to argue vehemently over the two candidates they are spoon-fed.
   
   “We the people” don’t choose the presidents; they are hand-picked by a powerful group of political party insiders; parties that have long since sold out to the highest bidders. In America this is what you would call a rigged oligarchy.
   
   The US is total corporatist state no longer a republican form of government of, by, and for the people. The government is nothing more than a corporation that is creating a fascist/corporatist police state.

      Amen!  And believe it or not, what happens is but the WILL OF GOD for HE KNEW from the beginning how the world would end!

   The Bible is silent when it comes to giving explicit prescriptions on modern voting.
   
   What you are left with is a moral case of voting for/against a candidate who aligns with what you perceive to be true, or the ideological case of being a participant in democracy.
   
   The fact is, even secular law doesn't command you to vote. It only bestows the privilege.

   In a democracy, having the right to vote makes you a party to choosing the kind of political leadership the country will have. In my view, it's a responsibility that cannot be evaded. The choice not to vote is a choice to abdicate the power we have to help choose responsible leaders.
   
   Although scripture does not directly address voting, I think it gives us a relevant principle that shows us our responsibility:
   
   Ezekiel 33:6  But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand.
   
   The watchman, having the responsibility and the power to warn the people, will be held accountable if he refuses to do the best he can to influence the people in the right direction. In the same way, a citizen, having the responsibility and the power to help choose the nation's leadership, will, I believe, be held accountable for refusing to do all he can to influence the nation in the right direction.

      Your words are reasonable, yet one must often choose between candidates that neither are responsible nor champions of the truth.
      
      The prophetic voice of believers and the church shall endure regardless of who is in office.

   Tell your friends about the Libertarian Party. Now, when you do this, the first thing they'll throw at you is abortion, but don't worry, the Libertarians aren't going to make it worse, it would likely be STATUS QUO for the next four/eight years AS IT WOULD BE UNDER TRUMP OR CLINTON. So no real loss there. But they advocate smaller Federal government, competently managed finances, a complete moratorium on PORK! While Libertarians are for people marrying whomever they're comfortable with, that's already law, so again, no loss. Go to http://lp.org/platform to read the full platform (only takes a few minutes.) Johnson/Weld are INFINITELY more qualified than either of the "mainstream" flunkies.

   It is better not to vote from a Christian point of view, or you be voting in favor of a Christian version of ISIS and wife beater.
