I loved it. If only his focus in his campaign speeches had been anything like this, it would not had been so hard to trust him from the beginning. Too many tasks for a four year spread or even a forty year spread, but a start is the first step in fixing anything. I pray he is given respect in trying and that he can succeed in a few of these important issues.

You make a good point, however, think about it, do you think Trump would win the Nomination if he had just went along and follow tradition? Unfortunately, it is the master of media manipulation that won it for him.  He sucked up all the oxygen...

Yes, I listened to the speech. I loved it. He basically put all the politicians on notice, when he stated: "For two long, a small group in our nation's Capitol have reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne that cost."
(The look on Michelle Obama's face, at this point, was 'interesting' to say the least.)
Anyway, Trump went on to say, "Washington flourished, but the people did not share it's wealth."

He spoke the truth. There's a new Sheriff in town. The politicians who have shamelessly lined their own pockets at the expense of their constituents need to understand that they work for us, and not the other way around.
President Trump understands this truth, and believes this truth. He has already begun working on our behalf---before the day was even over. Trump is a hard worker. I look forward to this administration!

Thanks, Greg. I am finding that Trump doesn't just talk change (like his predessor), he acts. I truly appreciate that.

I just think that I like trying. We got like these guys. John Wayne, JFK, Ronald Reagan.
I figure that we are all pretty close to what we want. The speech got the ball rolling to a new try.

I thought it was an very inspiring speech. He basically stayed consistent with what he has been saying all along in his campaign stump speeches with no hint of backing down. Here are some highlights:

    1) He wants to take power from Washington and return it to the people (where it belongs).

Trump plans to reign in the power of unelected bureaucrats and judges that have usurped Congressional power and therefore are not accountable to the people.

He also plans to return decision making power to state and local governments for school choice initiatives, block grants for states to administer Medicaid programs, reform the entire federal regulatory code, downsizing an over-bloated federal work force and simplifying  and reducing taxes.

    2) Putting America first

Allowing America to develop our own domestic energy, administer refugee programs that ensure proper vetting, renegotiate trade deals that don't favor America or its workforce, invest in America not foreign governments, remove regulations to force American jobs overseas and remove the politically correct barriers that impede our ability to aggressively fight radical Islam.

    3) Protect our constitutional liberties

Appoint judges that uphold the rule of law and interpret the Constitution according to its original meaning. Protect and defend religious freedom and freedom of speech that has been under continual assault the last eight years.

I couldn't argue with anything he said but of course the devils in the details. I was concerned about the costs of his plan to pursue in aggressive infrastructure program and his commitment to cut entitlement spending.

Good summary and I do think you are one of the few that gets it. Those here that criticize Trump are stuck with the caricature of Trump created by the dishonest media. It is too early to tell what Trump will be able to accomplish...I will be watching
