Does anyone get traffic from Pinterest anymore? Most of my traffic is from repins. I get virtually no traffic from pins I made in the last year and none of them have been repinned.

Never got a lot from them, still not getting much. Mostly get organic traffic from Google.

I have had success in deleting old pins and then pinning them again.  That way they appear in people's feeds again.  My traffic is up 50% since I started doing that last year.

        Maybe I’ll try this too.

I’ve got a load of ‘ancient’ pins that need to be deleted and replaced with Pinterest-friendly images anyway.
        Thank you for this tip.

      Hi Authors,

We definitely encourage you to pin your content on Pinterest! This is a great strategy for boosting reach. There are some user-friendly, free tools available that aid in the creation of top images with text overlay and infographics (check out Canva, for example). We also have a great resource for image use and attribution here: https://hubpageshelp.com/content/Learni … -image-use . . . or go for high-quality, original (author-owned) images.

      Best,

      Tessa

Okay, maybe I'll start doing it again then. Most of my articles have been pinned in the past, but not all.

Tessa, thanks. I will do the pin any time I publish a new article or update an old story.

I never had any luck drawing traffic from Pinterest, so I gave up trying a long time ago.

I made a renewed effort last year as far as P goes, after a number of years away from it. It hasn't done me much good.

I think topics probably matter. If I wrote more craft hubs, maybe I'd do better, I don't know.

Some of the pins (not mine) that do best generally on that site often seem very click-baity!

For me, Pinterest has been running a close second to Google as a traffic source. Surprisingly, my Motorcycle camping article gets a lot of traffic referred from Pinterest. Some of my music hubs get good traffic from there too. Less surprising is the traffic from Dengarden hubs.

Paul Goodman, I am surprised your articles about unclogging drains and such don't do better there. My article about laying a peel and stick floor does great on pinterest.

I pinned a couple of your articles, maybe that will help.

I'm losing Pinterest traffic to my articles, but I have not been as active. I've noticed I gain more traffic when I'm actually using it and repinning other articles.

It has currently dropped to my 4th highest traffic source, but it is still fairly close to Google California and Bing (less than 5k difference between the 3).

  7. Jodah profile image88

For me, Pinterest is also running second to Google as a traffic source, though in the last 30 days it is only generating about 1/3 of the traffic of Google, where overall it is a bit over 50%.

I'm glad that Pinterest is being discused here in the forum.                                I've heard many good things about the site-how it help generate or drive traffic with just photos. I hope to get a good hint of the trick here.

Pinterest is my second highest traffic source next to Google. I get around 80k to 100k visits a month in my Pins and Boards and at least 5% to 10% of that goes to my articles. There was a bust last year, but I think it's slowly booming again this year.

Writers, my focus or attention is very much arouse.                                   Driving traffic to an article is fundamental to a writer success, as we all know.                          Some of us including me don't know how to go about it. Will those acknowledgeable among us tell the story...as to how to do it? And successfully too.?

I had forgotten about Pinterest.  I have not posted anything to a board in a few years.  Consequently, I have 2 visits from Pinterest compared to 450 from google per day on one article I checked.  I will play around in Pinterest this week and report any changes on my stats, that may result.

  12. Solaras profile image83

Keep in mind, if you post only your own articles to Pinterest, or only those from one website, they will quietly suspend you, and your pins will be no-follow. So for every HP pin, you should have several from diverse sources.

      1. Solaras profile image83
Solarasposted 3 years agoin reply to this

I am still experimenting with pinning recent articles to see if it has any effect.  Those I never pinned, have zero Pinterest traffic, so let's see in a week if that changes.

Adding new pins to my Pinterest boards has not made a difference in referrals on the articles that were pinned a few years back.

For years Pinterest was my main source of traffic here.  A few years ago Google took over as my main source, but Pinterest is still number 2 and brings in nice views for me.

I often underestimate my Pinterest traffic because I get much more from Google; I should go check the stats, in the past I've gotten somewhat significant traffic from Pinterest I barely paid attention to.

Eh, just checked it on Analytics; it's about 2% of my traffic, number 4 - with Google being number one. Now I remember why I mostly ignore PInterest. hmm Tried pinning for awhile, never panned out.

For those new here, I think this is still very good advice (Wrylilt/Susanna Birch below), although Picmonkey is pricey now, and you may want to chose to use Befunky.com to edit images.

    https://toughnickel.com/self-employment … -Pinterest

Visually enticing first photos with a text description of the content will get your article repinned.  Be sure to add a caption to the photo that describes your article, so Google will put it on the right "images" search results pages.

Consistent efforts can get traffic from anywhere, whether it's Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter.
I didn't get much traffic from Pinterest so far but I would suggest that we shouldn't leave any stone unturned. However, organic traffic coming from Google should always be the first preference.

My second highest source for traffic is and always has been Pinterest. As a routine, every time I publish a new article and it has been promoted to a niche site, I pin the first image (which I call the title image)  that contains the title of the article. Then I also pin every image from the article. When traffic goes down, I make an effort to update old articles when I sometimes change the title image and pin that. Here are a few examples of title images:

Sometimes I also use texted images further down in articles to visually emphasize a point that I'm writing about. Like in this picture

How do you post so many images from your own work, without getting penalized for self-promotion? Are you also pinning tons of other images from other sources? If so where do you find them.

I remember Mark Ewbie got penalized, so that is why I ask.

When you register on Pinterest choose "Create a free business account" rather than a personal one, then there is no limit to self-promotion. (The link you need is hidden away at the very bottom of Pinterest's Welcome page.)

I mix the posts 50/50 mine and pins from others. Also, because the links to my own articles go to various different niche sites it appears that they are pinned by others, I guess.

Where do I find them? Most of them are my own images created with Photoshop.

I remember once paying a graphic designer to make a colorful infographic for an article of mine with all the key points posted only to have it removed. It got a lot re-pins prior to that and it also linked to the article, so not sure why it wasn't allowed. Pinterest also wants pictures of a certain format and it doesn't agree with the format we need to use for the top image so that has sort of put me off on pinning.

I have never had a problem with the format. All my images are published @ 700 pixels wide with, of course, varying lengths. That format works for most platforms.
