The weekly feed from HubPages tells us that Maven is now the Arena Group
"According to a new article on Business Wire, 'This new identity celebrates the company’s efforts over the past year to focus its core business strategy—building scalable media verticals, dubbed “arenas,” on a dynamic single technical platform, around passionate consumer interests. The reimagined identity was designed to capture the company’s unique value within the industry: a media ecosystem that brings together consumers, brands, publishers, storytellers, and advertisers around robust digital destinations.'
Could somebody translate this into English, which is the only language I speak fluently?
I'm expecting FatFreddyCats to wade in and gave me a laugh to relax.
Ehhhh... I got nothin'. Sorry. Not enough coffee yet.
In business-speak that means that Maven is failing so it is rebranding in an effort to become profitable. It rarely works.
I am still digesting the newsletter announcement. I am unsure what they mean about the two niche sites falling into a Arena Group structure. They are independent websites aren't they? I did find an article at Business Wire giving more information, yet I only skimmed it while still unsure how it affects HP directly.

LOL! I was going to say, please translate too!
Translation:
Core business strategy. = Get your act together you twits.
building scalable media verticals = learn how to use a video recorder, you twits.
on a dynamic single technical platform, around passionate consumer interests = Work together you idiots, and not do your own thing. like Fred over there... what is he doing? Fred? Fred? stop playing tetrus....
(bringing together) robust digital destinations.'= lots of different sites. (sigh)
So, In a nutshell, there you go! Its Freds fault for playing tetrus, other people not taking notice, now we need to work together and stop piddling about.
think that's it, waddya think? (wink)
Spot on Nell. I'd like to add that "reimagined identity" means we are actually lizard people who have come from another planet and are taking our direction from the drug cartel-leading Queen of England.
LOL! Rupert! Yep, you are completely right!
I worked in an office for Ford, and Volkswagen, along with translating at least 10 languages onto addresses (got help with tech on that!) but not once did I try and be so pretentious to speak gobbledegook!
Jibber jabber, mumbo jumbo for SOL. The changes HP writers have been asking for just got permanently swept under the rug.
Hey, I wrote better copy than that back in 1975.
Actually, I think somebody needs to administer a laxative to them.
This just shows everyone how truly disconnected they are from the product they wish to have others put out for them.
They want to make multiple websites or platforms for topics that grow or will have the potential to become popular.
They plan on using the same technology everywhere to do this.
They want to get writing on subjects that viewers like to read.
No idea what their unique value is or what they want to offer.
Something about how writers, viewers, and advertisers. will be happy.
Eric, that's closest anybody has come to making sense of this twaddle. Why couldn't they have written it in plain English as you have? Congratulations.
Amen. Legalize is a fancy way of saying absolutely nothing. Just look at what politicians say - NOTHING but a lot of mumbo jumbo to fly over your head and make you feel stupid.
So now that we are writing for Arena, does that make us Gladiators haha?
Haha! Yes, we already are the Gladiators. Lol! Let's fight with each other in this arena.
This is so funny. Us being called gladiators
Yes, I commented on that in the other thread. It means b*gger-all to the average reader. The only reason I've any idea what's going on is through other sources.
I started a post on this, too. https://hubpages.com/community/forum/35 … ost4204408

Perhaps whoever wrote the incomprehensible email from Maven/TAG might benefit from working towards the Crystal Mark
This is a trend I noticed when it comes to tech. But not always tech. People just love their buzzwords and anything related to their industry. The more buzzwords the more cool you sound apparently.
blockchain! AI! Deep learning! something something else new.
I'm reminded of this classic "Simpsons" bit:

Writing online - should we keep it plain and simple or write with language designed to impress...?I often hear writers say that to write online for profit means compromising art for the sake of being found and read by the masses. What is your opinion; can you still write welland sell online or is...
