Hi Guys,
I just created my first hub page, would appreciate any advice on improving it both for readers and earning potential.
Anaerobic Conditioning for MMA Training
Cheers
Welcome to Hubpages.
Please be advised that it is frowned upon entering the forums for the sole purpose of promoting your hubs. You may want to read the thread Maddie Rudd (a long-time hubber and all around awesome gal, as well as Hubpages staff member and forum moderator) created which contains all kinds of awesome information you need to know about Hubpages:
Frequently Asked Questions
Hey,
Unforunately, unlike squidoo there really isnt an area in the forum dedicated to critiquing new hubs. Although if you look through the forums a lot of people are asking exactly that in a slightly more sneaky manner (will this hub work? for example).
However, I would say good first hub, check this sentence, looks like you may have missed a word or two:
"For an MMA Fighter, anaerobic exercise part of their training regimine..."
Add a few more images, other than that, looking good.
Not that at all, MMA. However, to come to the forums having made no posts at all, no hubs at all, and wanting folks to read your hubs (a.k.a. promoting your hub to new readers) is something the forums see a LOT of. I do mean A LOT.
Reading the FAQ that is colored a nice shade of red if I remember rightly, and is even stickied (meaning it sits at the top of the forum section at all times) is the best way to get the official and comprehensive "first-timer" help you need.
Dear,
You may not know the rules of the forum. Some very senior hubbers-Grandma? are here to teach you.
I have read your hub and think you need few help or advice . Pls put some more tags.

It is not an attack nor a bad english ( though I am not an english speaking ).
It is a respect shown to a very senior hubber and her advice.
If my respect hearts some one i apologise. There is no intention to do so.
Jyoti
Hey now! I'm no grandma.. LOL
Thank you for the compliment, Jyoti, I'm just trying to make sure the hard work Maddie does is seen, appreciated and put to use whenever possible.
I am by no means a very senior hubber, but after a few months you get to figuring out the rules pretty darn well I think.
MMA -
It's rather lacking in information. You do not go into specifics in any way. All generalizations which really could be cut down to about 3 sentences.
You do not explain anything in any depth.
This part for instance:
"The muscles developed under anaerobic conditions behave in a different way and are actually more efficient in short, powerful burst periods (lasting anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes)."
This doesn't really mean anything without some sort of explanation of what anaerobic means. And behave in a different way to what?
Or this:
"Lactic acid is known to build up in all individuals who undergo intense activity o exercise. Activity that lasts from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, begin to rely on lactic acid. The anaerobic energy system can be developed in most individuals by using what is called an interval training program. The major philosophy behind this interval training program is that one allows only for partial recovery after each exercise."
What is lactic acid? Interval training?
And this:
"There are various exercises one can use to boost your anaerobic tolerance it is not possible to list them all in this article,"
Why not? The page can be as long as you like it. You could have maybe given a detailed description of exercises and what benefits they provide.
So, on the whole, there is not really any information on this page. It looks dull but you could spice that up with some decent photographs.
And perhaps some instructional youtube videos - a huge range including workouts, drills and technique specific videos showing the exercises perhaps?
This is a pretty low-quality of information at the moment, but I am sure you could fix that.
I also noticed a lot of spelling mistakes. They are easily fixed with a spell checker though.
My pleasure
@ gamergirl - I suppose I would be more warmly received if I went into the 'Last one to post is the Winner!' thread and spammed that with 'I win' 100 times???
@ Mark - Thank you, you obviously read the hub. I will take on board your constructive criticism and work on it.
I think you need to apologize. Nobody spams anybody there, people are having fun talking to one another.

If you don't understand something, it is not a reason to offend others.
If you think that that is spam then you don't know what spam is.
MMA, if everyone who wrote a Hub started a new thread saying "look at this!", the forums would be swamped. That's why it's frowned on.
If, instead, you simply join the forums and ask some questions about how things work, people will notice a newbie and go and check your Hubs without you having to ask.
Personally, I found your Hub a bit wordy. Your first sentence is in good, punchy (sorry) English but the rest is too many long words not conveying enough information.

I just went through all people I have been following and purged the ones that have no articles and no activity. I am quite surprised to see how many people have left HubPages over the years and I wonder what made them leave in the first place. I understand the volatility of writing online but there...

I'm sorry if this post offends anybody, but I am really getting tired of people who basically are non English speakers showing up, throwing a hub together without expending any effort to read the forums or the learning center to find out what they should be doing, and then asking for help to...

These are the people who are very supportive of other people's work or who have great ideas and are always willing to share them to make hubpages into a better community. These are the people hubpages should give some extra money to because they make a real difference in the community. I...

New people are always welcome on this site, but they need to understand that this is not a site like Facebook. HP is a community of writers who have come here to hone their skills and perhaps earn a few dollars. If your only goal is to show up out of the blue, produce nothing, but spend your...

Who are the top hubpage earners and what is their secret?I read a few hubs that described the top hubpage earners but I think it was from last year or so. Who are the top earners now and what are the main reasons for their success?

I still think comments should be comments, not discussions, that is the purpose of a forum. Maybe it would be a good idea that every author has a forum automatically made in a widget on there profile page and the topics are always the title of the Hub. That way you can discuss it and always edit...
