   hello guys,
   
   am liekamia a new here,
   
   i wanted to hear from you, your own idea about how important
   is to learn many languages aside from the language you are using right now,,
   
   Am studying 2 more different languages.
   and have some doubt on what is this advantages of it to me.

      do you know that sometimes language does not matter... sometimes people tend to trust your face expression or body language rather than your words

      If its necessary in your carrier, like for example your a traveling businessman it is important to learn 2 different languages. It makes your work easy and it ensures understanding between business partners. And if your a student its definitely a must to learn the language you can used in your future field of interest.

      I personally love languages and the study of them so my opinion is a bit biased...I think that everyone should learn at least one language other than their native one because it not only opens up a new world of people to talk to (which the internet makes possible almost regardless of which language you learn) but because there is so much cultural history embedded in a language and so much mental reward for learning it. Personally I was raised speaking English and ASL (American Sign Language...yes, it's non-verbal speaking) and now can also speak Lakota (a Native American language) and Spanish. After a few more months focusing on Spanish I intend to start learning the basics of French, and then on to Italian and Russian and hopefully someday German and Chinese .
      
      Practical uses are definitely a factor and if you don't use the languages you're studying and don't share my passion for the simple learning of languages then there really is no reason to learn, but I'd certainly encourage anyone trying to learn a language to find native speakers of that language to talk to (I have a link to a great site for finding people, My Happy Planet, in my hub on Learning Spanish) before giving up on the language...personally I never could keep my interest on classroom learning so it never really stuck until I had to learn in order to communicate with some very interesting people.

   In my opinion, doing something without a goal is not much of work. However gaining knowledge is good. Knowledge of many languages is very important in shaping career in this age of globalization. It also broadens your knowledge base. You can also interract with heterogeneous groups.

   - It is great if you like travelling as you can interact with the locals and learn more about the place that you are visiting.
   
   - If you like reading or watching films you will see the difference between a "version original" and the translated version of the book or film.  I do love the original versions... there is really a lot lost in translation!

   I agree with u. I know several languages and I can understand both original and translated versions.
   In fact "feeliings" can be transformed but not translated.

   Learning languages is not only l'art pour l'art or something that can enable you to interact with speakers of the language in question, but also an excercise for your brain and a window to new ways of viewing old things. By learning a new language you actually somewhat learn a new way of thinking, a way of thinking used by native speakers of that language... and much more.

      Oh! sure!
      And if one can learn the grammer, literature and specially the link with other languages ..it will open many facetes of life. certainly an exciting experience for the brain.

   It's ok to know languages, but you shouldn't have to for the country your in. If your in an English country you shouldn't need to know Spanish, they should need to learn English. If they fail at that then they don't belong here, simple as that. So unless you need the language to be in the country your in, learning it is up to you
