I love scary movies such as The Ring, REC. but my favourite has to be The Grudge.  It's a master piece of horror.  What's your favourite?

I watched this only last week on Sky, but found it very disappointing I am sorry to say.

The scariest movies for me were "The Entity" (based on a true story) and "Salem's Lot" based on the Stephen King Novel.

It came out In 1999 , totally creeped me out . And I am with the last person who posted ghost and monsters do not bug me . Movies about psychopaths do ! Like that one with Glenn Close and Michael Douglas that I cannot remember the name of right now .

I think you mean "Fatal Attraction", originally made with Clint Eastwood when it was called "Play Misty for Me". (Fatal Attraction was in effect, a remake with different cast).

I've watched the cut version of that movie, and it's already really gruesome. I don't think I could handle watching the original uncut version of it. =S

i agree with The Shining and The Thing. The Shining never gets old, no matter how many times I have seen it! I just love that movie! and The Thing, with Kurt Russell - that was a totally absorbing film. plus I dug Kurt's giant hat! big_smile

    Life.

In past month in my town, which is seen as quiet, there have been:

    One grocer murdered
    One police murdered
Two thieves killed by vigilante mob
One alleged thief had leg broken by college students
One alleged thief chopped by residents
    At least 5 robberies

(Now you know why I write about Revolution).

And I don't watch ghost horror movies, and try to avoid the genre except for science fiction, and thrillers like Psycho.

Does Silence of the Lambs count as horror?

Then you wouldn't want to see "killer Clowns From Outerspace." as stupid and b-movie as it is. It did have it's moments. But, otherwise pretty stupid.

      1. jellydonut25 profile image60
jellydonut25posted 14 years agoin reply to this

it may be a relatively stupid movie, but there's a CARE on the part of the filmmakers that oozes onto the screen and it's a VERY enjoyable movie experience

plus, the Klowns are CREEPY as all get-out

To me, there is a difference between the scariest scary movies and the best scary movies.

I don't care to count how many movies have proven to be both excruciatingly scary and well, just plain excruciating to watch. (The entire torture porn sub-genre comes to mind.)The scary movies I like the best leave much more to the imagination, so they're as scary as the individual watching wants it to be. They rely on good storytelling with compelling characters rather than on gratuitous violence and shock value. I sometimes find them less scary, but better movies overall.

My favorite horror movies would include John Carpenter's The Thing, The (original) Haunting, Night of the Living Dead, the original Dawn of the Dead, and anything Alfred Hitchcock.

  24. brimancandy profile image78

I don't really care for scary movies. So, I would have to say my favaroties are from the Scary Movie Franchise.

"interview with a vampire" Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt? Excellent!
"Freddy Vs. Jason" I laughed my ass off!
"Eight legged Freaks!" Funny/scary spider flick.
"Arachniphobia." Spiders are icky! Wuss Alert!

Another really old one that I liked for some reason is "Burnt Offerings." Not too scary by todays standards, but, if I had the chance, I would attemp to do a remake. I know I could make it really creepy.

Hmmm I have a lot of favorite horror films. Friday The 13th is one of my favs cause of how Jason just seems to find you wherever you are at even if he is far away from you. I love Nightmare On Elm Street because Freddy cracks me up, also Halloween.
