I just spent a good hour researching and editing a new hub.

I like to do this within hubpages because it allows me to compose around the layout, adding photos and capsules as I write.

So, I had lots of nice work done, when all of the sudden hubpages stopped responding.

More than an hour of work gone.

And the really cool thing is, it's research that is gone as well as writing and layout, so now I have to go dig up all the links that I used to support my argument.

The problem is this:  I use Firefox, with the NoScript addon.

While I am writing, other domains that use javascript will pop in.  When I hit the save button, hubpages will stop working.  I look down at my NoScript button, see that another domain is asking for permission to run javascript.

This is messing me up -it's happened several times before but this is the worst loss of work that I have experienced.

I'm assuming this is related to ads.  Why do we have to have ads being served to us as we're writing?  If it's not ads, what is it?

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I just went back and looked and I think a goodly portion of the work I thought was lost is actually saved.  Whew.

That said - it sure would be nice if I could edit my own html and formatting before posting to hubpages.  Wordpress allows this, so does Blogger.

But Hubpages is awesome in all other ways so it's cool.

Oh, must be annoying and at the same time frustrating, but at least there are some work left, I think they are making improvements and we should all bear with it,

hope they will sort all out within shortest time possible, I know they are doing everything also,

OMG. I don't have any answer for you but I can offer my sympathy.

I got a "HP is down for scheduled upgrades" message between 8 and 9 AM this morning. You must have been writing when that started. It has happened to me in the past a couple of times too.

I got interrupted by "scheduled upgrades" yesterday and lost a forum post.  hmm

I work in Word and transfer to HP capsules, but have had various freeze ups and such while working on hubs.  Thankfully once you close out any capsule it seems saved.

Glad you got a lot of your work back.

I just write everything in wordpress then copy and paste.  Seems a little silly but nice not to worry about gliches here, with so many users there are bound to be a few!

      Now that's a good idea.

I learned my lesson a few days ago when this started to happen.  If you save your capsule, then also click "done editing" frequently then it seems to save all your stuff.

I think my problem this morning was mainly the hubpages downtime, for some reason it made things look like I totally lost everything even though I'd been saving religiously.  Luckily I found that I hadn't lost anything at all when I went back an hour later.  smile

If you have a google account for Gmail.  You can put items in 'Google documents' which will be nicely archived away in both document type & chronological order & easily retrievable from anywhere...
