I must apologize for starting an intentionally controversial forum topic to see how easy it was to bait both sides.

The "Atheists are superior...." post, although dealing with a topic I believe in, was designed to stir the pot a bit.

This fact was not lost on some, but many are so used to highly emotive words such as "superior" on these topics they did not even notice.

Once again the discussion quickly lost all reference to the original posting and as predicted turned into the latest battleground in the ongoing religion wars.

In that sense the experiment was a total success.

  Actually, the evidence would suggest that it's not a given. Most people in our prisons know the truth about it being wrong to take innocent human life or even to unlawfully take the life of a guilty person. Merely knowing the truth doesn't do diddly squat if someone doesn't care.

  It is. When I first started coming into these religion & beliefs forums, I was immediately hit with insults because of my faith. When I say immediately, I mean just that. I often let it get me down. Another hubber, who had dealt with the same kind of issues, helped me understand how to handle it.
  
  If it had not been for her, I would have stopped coming into the forums for good. You have to know how to handle these people.
  
  You'll better understand where I'm coming from as you stay longer.

  Glad to hear that. I was naive when I first started out. I didn't know what to expect really. I was hanging in there, though. But day after day, month after month, I did get beat down, spiritually.

  And I just like to have fun sometimes with the people in here. I am sure that some would say I go too far with my comments. Sometimes, I think so myself. But, I'm not cussing anyone, or calling anyone names. And I'm not going to be a pushover, either. You can't be in here.

  This is just verbal trench warfare and I never lose. One day, you'll read my Hubs and notice I don't lean all that much on quoting scripture except where a point needs to be substantiated. Otherwise, I don't get too bogged down with throwing the Bible at peopele.
  
  Second, the other guy was partially right in my case. At the moment, I actually don't have anything worthwhile to do except to have some fun. This really is better than Comedy Central.

  I spend more than 8 years in the military beginning in Vietnam
  plus six more doing similar work in different places. What I can tell you is we fought for your right to follow or not follow the religion or higher power of your choice. To label any one group "stupid" won't score you any points anywhere. I personally believe in God and read the Bible. Am I superior to anyone? Not a chance. I'd rather carry the label of servant.
  
  Sure, I fight for what I believe in, but I'm not going to ridicule someone's position just because they don't see things my way.

I sometimes catch myself thinking I am superior to someone. Deep down, however, I know that feelings of superiority are a delusion. Each person is unique and the only thing that matters is to be true to one's own uniqueness and to honour the uniqueness of others.

Atheists do not exist.
The definition of atheism is to deny the existence of god or gods.
If these "god" things are but abstract concepts, they are imagined. They only exist in human thought. "they" do not "factually" exist.
One can deny the abstract concept "god/gods" but if these god things do not "factually" exist as a reality, there is nothing to deny....ergo there are no atheists.
