Your assumption of God being a man colors your assumption that God's supposed opposite would be a woman.

I think it more likely that the next president of the United States be an amoeba, as I think this fairly represents the level of difference between humanity and the divine...

But Mikel - I am really surprised at you - according to your "logic," she has a 50/50 chance of being right..........

Pretty good odds in fact. lol lol

Just remember - if you can't disprove it - it is probably true.

Well really Mark Knowles I was just sitting and thinking about the evil deeds that are done to people everyday. My thought of Satan possibly being a woman entity is how cunning and manipulative he is or she is.I don't really see a mans mind going into those depths of deceit..I was looking into old Hebrew text and Satan is actually referred to as a woman...I don't know it may all be nonsense but I thought it to be an interesting subject .Maybe looking at calamity a different way...

        2. Mikel G Roberts profile image73
Mikel G Robertsposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Yes she does have a 50/50 chance of being correct, because there is no proof either way.

The absence of proof and the fact that there is a 50/50 chance does NOT however make it 'probable' it simply makes it possible.

I'm begining to think that your constant changing(creative editing) of the things I post isn't from a lack of understanding on your part, which I was assuming, because your replies don't come across as overly intelligent. But I'm starting to believe that this tactic is being used merely because you don't have any other way to dispute that which you disagree with...???

Implying that someone said something which they didn't just makes it appear like there is an inability to understand what they posted but perhaps it is a bait and switch tactic?

          1. Mark Knowles profile image58

I dunno Mikel. By your logic - 50/50 is not only possible - it has a 50% chance of being right. Right? Sounds like one in two to me.

In fact - it sounds probable to me.

But - I will ask any way..............

At what odds does something become "probable."? LOLOLOLO

a woman suffering from PMS. plus, you know how some women try to lay heavy mind trips on people? and temperamental? sheesh!

i think Satan, if there is one, is a man, definitely. only a man could organize minions and run such a successful operation as Hell must be. he's like a warden, or something. yikes

Hello Brenda....  I was trying to think of scripture that would substanciate this claim and couldn't think of one.  Then I thought about Jesus saying that Man in the after life do not enter into marriage, not sure about the sexless thing..
Then I remembered that the sons of God came down and took all that they wanted of the daughters of man and then there were Giants? in the land.
These sons of God are then called fallen angels.

We need more clarification as to what the definition of sons of God, angels are ???  and We are sons of God too ??

            I'm confused !

Hebrews 1: 14 describes the angels as "spirits".

I once had a book by Ron Rhodes (a Catholic, no less ((go figure!  At least he is if I remember correctly...)) called Angels Among Us--Separating Truth from Fiction, or similar.....it explained the nature of angels, giving Biblical proof.   Really good.  I've since lost the book but am thinking of ordering it.
          You might look it up?

Just saying that the sons of God or fallen angels spoken of in Genesis must have had sexual desires and the ability to fulfill them? Maybe fallen isn't the best translation.
Maybe crosing over is a better translation. And there is no sexual activity on that side and when they cross over to here they are more like us?
The more I think about it, the more I like the crossing over concept better than the FALLING down.

I'm not sure those "sons of God" in Genesis were angels, although that's a rather common interpretation.
Do you know where it might say they were angels?
    Yeah good subject for research.
I've also done a bit of mulling on the subject of giants, period, in the Bible.   They were usually enemies of God's sons....

    1. BDazzler profile image79
BDazzlerposted 14 years agoin reply to this

The same hebrew term translated "Sons of God" ... ben-elohim used in Genesis 6 is used in the book of Job, Chapter 1. Satan is one of the ben-elhoim ...

      From KJV:

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

      Compare to

Genesis 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

OK, hmmm... so maybe my ex-wife's attorney was a cross-dressing satan.

I've begun to question more and more, not so much the scriptures them selves but the translations and interpretations there of.  I would believe that they did.  What that actually means I am not sure. Could be refering to numerious things that took place.

The Bible says his (Satan/Lucifer's) tail drew 1/3 of the stars of Heaven, if I'm not mistaken.

It would be silly to assume those were actual stars.

So....it takes really looking "between the lines" sometimes to understand what's being said Biblically....

I am not sure if it makes any diffrence at all,if the sons of God are also refered to as Angels. Or if they are two diffrent kinds of entities.
But if we are also sons of God in the same manor as those that are described in Genesis?  This would open the door to another realm of possabilities.

I wonder if Jesus adressed any of these issues while he was walking and talking with his desciples??  It seems that there would be so much more to teach than these things that he taught that were recorded.

And if there were more, why were they not included into the canon?,

      interesting take, Brenda.

      I agree, it is misinterpreted.

The translation is to 'manifest', as in bringing the things of Elohim to light, as did Y`shua -who is the manifest Word.
John's letter regarding the Word & Testimony of Y`shua Moshiach supports this. The true Spirit of Prophecy/Revealing the Mystery.

Religious folk assume it is to call forth books, money, cars and what-not. Unlikely, since none of those things expresses the Divine Will and Divine Purpose of human beings.

Satan is neither a man nor a woman, just as God also has no gender. Satan was an angel, a creation of God, however not in God's image and likeness, for only mankind out of all of God's creations were created in His image and likeness. Satan has no gender, he is only a fallen angel and a devil. To think that Satan is a woman implies that a woman is sinical, evil, and deviant. A man can also be such a evil, but because Satan is evil and deceitful, he carries the attributes of being persuasive and sinical. He tempts you with such things that feeds your desires and pleasures.

There is a famous statue of St Michael triumphing over Satan on the facade of Coventry Cathedral. It is fantastic piece of sculpture (by Epstein)and very powerful. I saw it regularly as a child.

I was  always very impressed by the size of Satan's penis. It must have been half a ton of solid bronze and probably measured about five feet from end to end. St Michael was modestly dressed in a sort of skirt.

Anyway, it is tough to think of Satan as anything other than male after that kind of exposure.

Link below, not showing the pieces you might not want to see.

My brother, everyone regardless of religious beliefs has to own up to the consequences of their own choices. It is not a matter of blaming it all on Satan. People blame all kinds of things on other people just to save themselves.  A strong person takes responsibility for their actions. Satan is nothing but an evil being, and evil is in the world, but every human being has a choice to do what is wrong or what is right, and thus regardless of whom they place blame on, they cannot escape the fact that they are responsible for their actions.

I have not read this thread. If someone else has already mentioned this, I apologize.

My understanding is that the word "satan" means "enemy." It is not a proper noun, it's a regular word in Hebrew. In other words, "satan" is not an entity - neither male nor female - "satan" is anything that is the enemy of good.

That really opens up the playing field, now doesn't it?

Satan was created as a beautiful musical being or angel. and since there are no references to women angels at all in the bible it stands to reason He is male.

Please no nasty comments. You asked and I gave you an informed answer straight from the book that were it not for it you would never have ever heard of any such thing as an angel.
