In my backoffice/statistics page - affiliate section, I have entered my affiliate code in place, but it still says "set" and not "active"?
Does this make a difference? And, if so, what is wrong?
You don't need to look at my hubs, but I've had over 400+ clicks on my amazon links.....yet not a single credited sale?
I do plan on re-vamping my hubs, so it's not worth mentioning that the quality of the is not committing the viewer/reader to go through with the sale.
My point is, they leave HubPages and arrive on Amazon, via clicking my link but no sales.
Again 400+ clicked links. I would like to know if there happens to be a problem or if I am doing something wrong?
Btw- I've recently read a Hub that showed "active" status for affiliate Amazon code insertion. So, this is why I asked.
Mine says "set" and it's working. I think you're all "set" Cags!
Could be that they buy but take too long for you to get credit?
That cookie thing is a b*stard!
Only adsense says "active". Amazon is "set". If you saw a hub with "active" for amazon, it was either an old screenshot or a fake screenshot.
And if you're getting 400 clicks with no sales, that's unfortunate but sometimes it happens. I got like 130 clicks with only 5 sales this month. You can get them to water, but you can't make them drink.
I have the same boat cags. I've always assumed that I screwed it up.
It's hard to know if I'm doing it right, because I'm not good enough yet to get a lot of traffic. It really sucks for somebody like me because I'm just starting from scratch at HP and if I make a mistake, it goes right under the radar. I don't get enough views for the problem to show itself, I mean.
Although my views are picking up - 40 or 50 a day instead of 10 or 20
- but that is mostly from the contest. I'm working on it!! lol
I've had some clicks to Amazon, but never a sale.
How are you doing with building back links, wyanjen? My views went way up as I started working intently on this. I'm finally on the front page in google for at least one of my hubs.
I'm in the process of setting up some stuff for EzineArticles.
I'm using RedGage right now, hoping to get some incoming links. I've abandoned Snipsly but I do still use shetoldme.
I don't have any good quality backlinks yet. I don't get much traffic from shetoldme, but I did get a click from there once
slowly but surely I'll get there lol
front page! way to go
Just for fun I will be happy to click on one of your hubs and buy something from Amazon (I do all the time anyway) through your hub ad and then you can see if it shows up. Just tell me which hub--preferably not all luxury cars etc. =
uh, er ... yeah, um ... ME TOO! Buy something from ME TOO!! (tail wagging) Let me check whether my setting are working!!!
(Couldn't resist)
I was wondering that too...thanks for asking about it Cags and thanks for the answers everyone
Your experience is probably the norm.
Its all about the intention of your viewer.
if you have a wonderful article about and titled [/butterflys, migration patterns, varieties, some beautiful pictures etc. You will probably get a percentage of people who click on some links about butterfly books and maybe some gifts featuring butterflys.
But since the viewer didnt type into that search box with one hand grasping their credit card, your not going to get many sales. They will read, get their curiosity satiated and move along.
If you had a similar hub on "Butterfly nets" ..reviews, comparisons and online deals...then 400 clicks/no sales would be an issue to fix.
Your clicks prove the association is correct, your lack of sales just means your focus isnt on a buying traffic.
This was intended as a general response, i realize many people have different motivations for writing online and product sales isnt the main focus for most.
Cagsil, in my first 10 months I had hundreds of clicks, but only one sale that made me all of 8 cents. It wasn't until I began writing a few hubs aimed at selling, not telling that I began to see sales from Amazon.
Stumbled across this thread, and I'm glad to read it (sort of... sorry you aren't getting the sales Cags.) But, I was starting to think that I was doing something wrong as my clicks are not converting to sales either... and I have WAY less than you.
I just posted a thread asking for any "Tips and Tricks" for converting clicks to sales. Who knows if anyone will answer (I sometimes think I post too early in the morning, and my threads are buried by the time anyone is up. - Or maybe I'm invisible? Helloooo... can you see me?
)
Anyway, check it out if you want. Maybe someone will say something much more helpful than I have in this wind-baggish answer.

At one time I got sales from eBay, but now I'm confused. When I try and find a product on eBay that would be appropriate for my Hub, I get a confusing message. Can't remember the exact words, but something to the effect the product must be a "buy it now".Am I doing something...

I never get sales from these anymore. Should I just delete them so that it makes the adsense ads more enticing?

So I don't want to spread any panic or alarm (or paranoia) but.......I have been clicking on my Amazon modules on my hubs and I don't see any clicks in Amazon!First of all, as far as I can tell, you don't get punished by clicking on your Amazon ads. If somebody knows (and I mean really...

Since doing the Hub Challenge I have tried to balance my Hubs. I do some beautiful women, and some paranormal, comic book, tech stuff etc. My women Hubs are the high traffic, while the Hubs I think are good and solid drop like rocks. Okay sex sells....I get that. But I try to even balance my...
