The subject of my hubs

   Hi, I would really welcome some advice.  I started writing on hubpages just over a month ago.  I have written about allsorts - in fact, anything that has interested me and I am wondering if this is where I am going wrong.  Am I being too general, should I be refining my new writing to a more narrow subject band because my google adsense earnings have been very low despite what I think is quite a good level of interest (about 1350 views in total, to date).  Or is my problem that I am not choosing a commercial enough subject?  Anyway, I would welcome your advice and criticisms.  Thanks

      Really, you are doing just fine.
      One of the great things about HubPages is that you can always go in and edit, add to, and revise your hubs at any time.
      From other hubbers, you will learn little things you can do here and there. Most important is to be patient and see what seems to work for you.

      No, I think you're doing the right thing.  It's far too early to judge the potential of your subjects at this point.  Give it a few months - once you can see that 80% or 90% of your traffic is coming from search engines, then you'll know whether you're getting traffic but no clicks, or no traffic, etc.
      
      No matter what promotion you do, it takes time for the search engines to rank your Hubs well enough to earn money.  It takes most people 9 months to a year to make their first Google payout, then it starts to snowball.
      
      So I would keep writing on a variety of subjects, because you never know which one will hit the bullseye.  Most Hubbers say it's often their least likely Hubs that earn well!

   I write general things, but the more niche like you can be (one subject) often the better. It might just be your wording of a hub too, the bots pick up different keywords and reports ads in that keyword term. You cannot select that but using the same SEO to increase search engine rankings increases ads in that subject.
   
   Take a Hub focusing on the term "Cat Health"
   
   The keyword Cat Health shows $1.85 per click.
   Say you list sneezing as a side effect many times within the hub and one or two times "cat health sneezing" combines. If it picks up on that "cat health sneezing" is only $0.69 a click.

         Google offers a free Adwords tool (the reverse of adsense) that gives estimated cost per click (remember, it wont tell you how much you will get if something similar was clicked, just gives an idea).
         
         It contains search numbers, competition, and the price.

   Hi. welcome!
   it looks like you have some great hubs with interesting topics.
   write about whatever you want and make sure you group your hubs together if you have more than one on the same general topic. you may have already done this.
   I think you're definitely on the right track and 5 weeks isn't very long. it takes a few months to start seeing more adsense $ coming in, just keep writing and fine tuning your current hubs.
   [I go back in mine and see a word I want to change or add a tag or bold a keyword, phrase, just little things we don't always see when we are writing the hub. sometimes I catch a misspelled word or grammar error.]

   I also wonder about my hubs. Some have said my hubs are sad but I write about what is in my heart. I guess I just need patience.

   1350 page views in a month?  I'm at 1203 after 3 months!  Of course, though, I'm not writing for sales or marketing, seo or keywords....more of the creative type of writing....

   Don't be too hard on yourselves we all started at the same place and over time your visitors will rise. Success isn't always instantaneous or happen overnight. Just keep writing and have fun doing so
