How MANY of you contend that no matter WHO becomes president, YOU will still
be successful in all areas of YOUR lives as current politicians WON'T EVER control your socioeconomic & life destiny? No matter what president, governor, or mayor is elected to office, I intend to be socioeconomically successful. For example, when Nixon was president, many bemoaned it however my parents didn't let Nixon preclude them from being successful & they DIDN'T fear Nixon being president.
..."Success in ALL areas of your life." That is quite a statement! To be successful in all areas of our life, to me, at least, is that one is completely satisfied at ALL times with how ALL things are going. Or at least our personal INTERPRETATION of all things are going. Can anyone claim this apart, maybe, from those few 'enlightened souls.' who really do want nothing further?
Okay, I'm being 'nit-picking.' But that word 'ALL' is so often used when 'most' would be the more accurate word. ALL is a very little word with a very, very big meaning. So big in fact that it takes in ALL.
The current crop - and all the earlier ones for that matter - do affect our-socio-economic well being. We don't notice it because we take it for granted that trillions will be spend of 'Defence Projects.' How wealthy the world without such waste?
Grace, I will answer your question last, but just to set the record straight, your parents had nothing to fear when it came to Nixon. Frankly, he did quite a lot for Civil Rights, even appointing women and Latino's to his cabinet---an unprecedented move in his day.
Nixon was the only president since World War II to bring an economic upturn (through his Philadelphia Plan) in a presidential in an election year, and he was re-elected. As for Civil rights:
1) The Nixon presidency witnessed the first large-scale integration of public schools in the South.
2) In addition to desegregating public schools, Nixon implemented the Philadelphia Plan in 1970—the first significant federal affirmative action program. He also endorsed the Equal Rights
Amendment after it passed both houses of Congress in 1972 and went to the states for ratification.
3) Nixon had campaigned as an ERA supporter in 1968, though feminists criticized him for doing little to help the ERA or their cause after his election.

Frankly, he wished to do much more for the economy more, but the Democratic Congress fought him at every turn.
Will Clinton make middle class Americans more wealthy? I doubt it, unless you work for the federal government---or Wall Street. In fact, Wall Street executives refer to Hillary as Mrs. Wall Street. That's why they give her $250,000 a pop or more when she makes speeches at their conferences.
Will I do my best to have a good life if she is President? Of course. But make no mistakes. Her socialist plan will cost us, and it will be the middle class who pays for it.
I agree with your comment except for the paragraph. Things are different today from Nixon or any time since the 70s. The 2008 economic meltdown made our economy fragile, and we lost most of those middle class jobs that made America prosper.
The economic meltdown was horrible, and I felt it keenly. Nixon inherited a deficit and the economy was in the doldrums. Anyway, I get a little tired of the Nixon bashing. 99% of folks have no idea just how much good he did before the stupid break-in
Lol. We finally agree on something. You might be the first person I've met who isn't a Nixon basher.

Rarely do you see a politician quite this honest: Last Wednesday, just hours after securing the position of chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., told the Birmingham News that "in Washington, the view is that the banks are to be regulated, and my view is...

Are you a worrier?I have been trying for so many years to break the habit of worrying, especially about things over which I have no control. I know, without a doubt, most of what I worry about won't happen, & I remind myself of this all the time, but it's still such a hard habit to break....
