What Is A Timeline Of The Health Benefits Of Stopping Smoking?

Is damage to your lungs from smoking permanent? What happens to your lungs and body after you quit smoking? How long does it take to see positive results from quitting smoking? What are some vitamin supplements to repair lungs after quitting smoking?

I quit smoking nine months ago yesterday and I can tell you it was an immediate change for me. No more wheezing. It stopped the moment I put out that last cigarette.  My only problems seem to be the weight I put back on after trying so hard to lose it.  My blood pressure is the best it has ever been. From what I have read about it, smokers deprive themselves of many vitamins by not eating right especially Vitamins C, D and E are lacking in their diet to contribute to healthy lungs.

The timeline can be found on the internet. I dont recall it, so wont offer it. I would suggest a nutrionist, because no one knows you, and not sure how much to recommend.

I am not sure if you already have lung issues? If you do, stop smoking will improve areas that effect the lungs. If you have been diagnosed with damage, you can still have some degree of healing. I know I am evasive, but any information I could give you could prove to be as deadly as the cigs. See a good nutrionist.

Also, you might want to do some reading on biology of the mind. There are excellent books now, on how people are healing themselves. I am one who is doing such with success. check out you tube Bruce Liption and Jill Boyte Taylor. Listen to what they have to say, and if you want you can order their books or go to the bookstore or library. There are others too you might wish to listen you, this is not a limited list.
    Best of luck to you.
I been smoked free for 3 yrs. Best choice I made. The benefits outweight smoking in a heart beat.

Rather than repeat what is here, I will just add this. Don't just quit smoking. Celebrate breathing. Learn to enjoy healthy breathing in awareness. Become aware of the effects of different foods on your breathing - for some, for example, dairy creates a lot of mucous and discomfort. Enjoy breathing in stillness in nature, and enjoy healthy exercise. And yes, the first benefits are immediate. More occur in 3 days, 3 weeks, and 6 months. In about 8 years, you can completely rebuild your body and repair your lungs.
