I finally made a payout this month and I'm really happy about it. It has been a long road, but one that I have enjoyed.
I do mostly travel tips and tricks for cruising. To say that the traffic has taken a hit is a bit of an understatement.
Now I don't know what to do. Do I just keep plugging with my travel tips and wait for COVID to end or do I diversify and start writing about other things?
How is everyone else dealing with the changes to our lives?
Sending virtual hugs to you all! Stay safe.

My opinion, for what little it is worth, would be to continue writing travel articles if that is what works for you.

I would expect people to be planning, now, for trips later this year or next year.  Certainly those that had plans cancelled (as I did) are not going to suddenly stop pining to travel and planning future trips.

Yeah I guess you are right. Once things become more normal people might get back into old habits.

Paddygsound, personally, I think this is the best time to re-examine your existing hubs, and to create new ones.

Hubs take weeks and months to climb up search engine rankings. (Some of mine took almost a year) Google has also been rather overboard with its algorithm changes. Given these, what better time is there to experiment with what works best for your hubs? In the sense, any resulting damage from errors is minimized?

Do it well, and months later when the pandemic is under control (hopefully), and you're already at the top of searches.

Besides, this pandemic will change the nature of travel. For example, I foresee high-sea cruising permanently transformed given the horrid situations with the Princess Liners. These are new travel sub-topics which you can work on.

Short of it, there are opportunities in danger/threats. It's a Chinese saying and it's one that's virus-free. smile

I will just have to maintain my motivation during these trying times. It can be hard with so much uncertainty

I agree!  It takes months sometimes for articles to rank.  I write gardening articles.  I plan on a 6 month lead time for my articles.  Keep writing your travel articles and tips.  They will be well ranked by the time the pandemic is over and people start to travel.

I'm sorry to say that it will be well more than a year and more likely two years before we have anything back to normal.

All travel and leisure industries won't become normal until a vaccine is widely available, which many experts say is at least a year away.

I would continue writing the travel articles. People are getting tired of the COVID-19 articles and soon will start turning to other topics for relief.

Congratulations on making pay out. Like you I write travel articles, but I am still inching my way (cent by cent) to payout. I have had similar thoughts about my chosen subject, but have decided to plough on because I have collected a lot of material, I enjoy the subject of travel and I need a distraction from COVID-19.
