    This is a big problem.
I recently received this text fron our local law enforcement.

It has come to our attention that pressed pills (Adderal, Xanax, Percocet, etc) laced with Fentanyl are in Fayette County.

If you or someone know is overdosing call 911 immediately.

For substance abuse help contact Pathways to Recovery's 24/7 Hope Line at 740-463-1009.

However, I don't agree with having a secure place for those to take this drug.

It's a sad situation, but that's not the answer.

This is a very interesting article highlighting a very disturbing situation, the distribution, addiction and deaths from Fentanyl. Thank you for sharing this information, Steve.

Many thanks for posting the link, Misbah. Thanks also to Jodah for his kind words.
Brenda, you highlight how serious the situation has become. I fully understand that people will be uncomfortable about setting up secure places. There are various reasons for this hesitancy but it is hard to see what else can be done.

      My Pleasure, Steve. smile
For some serious reasons, I had to take Diazepam and Valium for a short period of time (prescribed by doctors). I am aware of how addicting these medicines are.
      Stay safe and blessed!

Yes, people are getting dependent on prescription painkillers.

Actually, I believe these medications function more as stress relievers than as pain relievers. When you have high blood pressure, private hospital doctors in Spain can recommend these medications. In fact, if prescribed by a psychologist, they are used to reduce anxiety.I believe these medications have numerous long-term side effects. smile

Yes, Misbah, some of these drugs do serve multiple purposes. I use Fentanyl only for the artificially ventilated patients in CCU. It is used here only when absolutely necessary and that too on a very metered dosage. So yes! It should not be available in the open market and is definitely not a safe thing to use without guidance and knowledge.
Diazepam on the other hand is not an opioid. It is a benzodiazepine that can be used as an anxiolytic, sedative, muscle relaxant and also to reduce blood pressure temporarily by which I mean it is not a regular antihypertensive drug and yes both opioids and benzodiazepines can cause dependence although benzodiazepines will not cause addiction in the manner opioid group of drugs to do. This means, that diazepam overuse can lead to tolerance to the effect of the drug and lead to withdrawal of the effect of the drug but it may turn into an addiction. It is important to know that not only drugs, anything if taken too much can prove to be toxic to the body and may even be fatal even if that is something as harmless as water. And yes these drugs when mixed with other drugs can prove to be lethal due to their additive effect on heart rate, blood pressure and breathing since most have a centrally acting mechanism operating right from the brain and spinal cord. So the only SAFE zone to use these should be a hospital or through the generation of an authorized prescription.
