This article was helpful for me too. After having a recent blood test, the doctor prescribed me iron tablets because she saw a shortage of iron in my blood. I have been taking them, but she didn't call it anemia. I hope it's something not too serious. I am functioning properly now so I guess I should be okay. Thank you for this timely article, Pamela. I do appreciate it.

    Thanks Misbah for sharing.

    Great information, Pamela.

I've had iron infusions for hereditary iron deficiency and it was interesting that when I went for infusions for the first time they asked when I chewed ice (the nonnutrient consumption you refer to - pica). I did so ravenously.  They said that it was very common and one hallmark sign of anemia.

I hope you are safe and well.

Flourish, I didn't know you had that problem. Thanks for your comments about the ice. That is so interesting. Stay healthy!
