Higher than the Rooftop : The Guest...
It’s a quarter before seven when I glanced at my watch. Hate..Hate..Hate..Hate..Hate…I can’t believe I was chanting that song from Chelley as I climbed up to my rooftop. Oh, well I love the camera flash sounds on the intro and the funky club song would make anyone dance to it.
I was smiling like a fool as I was coming close to my fave sanctuary. Had a great day…a fine day at the mall with few friends and I’m psyched for my rooftop moment. Left them on their gym rituals, so happy I never had and have to do gym exercise. Maybe because I don’t drink and smoke at all, so I maintain a satisfied shape.
I froze up in surprise when I reached the top. Someone was standing there, having an awesome view.
“Show your face, stranger.” I said instantly.
A tall slim guy turned around to show off his face. His hair barely touching his shoulders flows with the wind almost covering his face. When he’s in front of me, I felt my tongue tied, realizing he’s a stunner.
“Hi, I’m Jon.” He greeted, offering his hand.
“What brought you here?” I asked smiling.
“To find out what brings you here…I mean, I would chill out in my porch and see someone standing here for hours at night every now and then. I wonder what brings you here over and over again.” He replied.
“Come over here and I’ll show you.” I told him upon reaching my fave spot.
The next thing I knew, he was standing next to me…doing what I was doing…looking around the fantastic view…breathing the air, as if that was the first time he tasted the air that way…looking up above the heavens, smiling at every star he could see…in between, he would look at me, and smile as if he finally saw what he’s been looking for.
“Are you OK?” I asked.
“Are you kidding me?! Never thought this place would be heaven. I mean, the feeling is not much close to the movies.” He said, still amazed.
“This is such a heavenly feeling, being in a soaring place under the stars…higher than everything and everyone else… Now you know a bit of the reasons why I go here every now and then. The other reasons are…well, let’s just say you will have your own reasons, too. In the meantime, let’s just enjoy the moment and the view.” I told him.
“In the meantime, can I soar with you?” He asked.
Nope. I might fall…I thought.
“Be my guest.” I finally answered.
And so I am standing here, in this reserved rooftop…with a guest…
A guest…a company…a friend maybe…
A guest who wants to soar…
A guest I don’t know if I could bring with me…
higher than the rooftop…
