   How do you feel about lending a close friend (that makes more than you) money to pay their bills?
   
   How do you feel about lending a close friend (that makes more than you) money to pay their bills?  Would you make the loan?  Or would you offer to give them budgeting advice instead?

   Princess Prisca, your third question is the solution I would suggest.  If the friend makes more money and is asking someone who makes less for a loan, then there is a money management problem.  Helpful advice would be useful as you stated to "offer them (friends with more money than you) budgeting advice but in a manner not to lose the friendship.

   I have burnt my fingers more than once lending out money to friends and lost both the money and friends. So, I wouldn't be lending any money to friends whether they make more than me or less. I'd like them to remain my friends.

   Insulted. Why do they need the money if they make more than you? What do they spend their money on? Why would they need yours? Obviously, they are horrible with money. Don't give them any or you will never see it again.

   I wouldn't lend money to a close friend, unless I want to lose that friend. And unless I owned a bank. And then he would have to have an excellent credit rating.
   
   Tell her NO. As for advice, don't give it unless you're asked.

   I have lent money to friends before. Friends that make more, and friends that make less. The outcome is always the same. You never see the money again. You become the bad guy if you bring it up. I will never do it again.
   
   I would love to offer people budgeting advice, but we all know that most likely, the friend won't take it, or will be offended by your offer. It is best to just politely decline.

   Say no. We all want to help our friends, but they will not learn to be responsible if someone always bails them out. Plus, if you expect the money back things will get very awkward.

   Don;t do it, they obviously do not budget according to their income.
   Lending money to friends and family is always a big mistake.

    Why would I lend money to someone who makes more money than I do?  If this person, friend or not, needs a loan, they most likely are mismanaging their finances that would indicate to me that they might not pay me back.  "Neither a borrower nor a lender be".

    I don't lend money to anyone. When people want to borrow, usually they are in a tight spot due to their own choices. Even when it is out of their control, giving them money is only deferring the inevitable and until the inevitable arrives they will continue borrowing from you. Don't be an enabler, this is even more important if their income has been reduced or eliminated willingly or not.
