Hey friends, why do you think it's ok to call Conservatives racist but this character can be as racist as he likes and it's ok?

I can't stand the guy. He's said some nasty things about women, too.

Im curious to hear what has he said that is nasty about women?  Sure he can be a little over the top with arrogance, but on the whole he's pretty spot-on in his observations.

I think calling a woman a bimbo, a tw@t, or a c*nt is pretty nasty. That's my opinion. You might not mind it, but I find it offensive.

Well he mostly only did that stuff towards Sarah Palin so you won't find anyone concerned about that.

You haven't watched his show for enough years if you think he hasn't said negative things about women. I haven't heard him talk that way lately, but a few years back he did it all the time.

So even if the man said these things the fact Rush commented on it makes it ok?

Rush?? The article was written by Kirsten Powers of The Daily Beast.

It really shouldn't matter who commented on it if the man actually said it. RIGHT?

I'm just confused as to why WG thought it was a Rush article.

its basically about Rush and why he called someone a slut.  Calling a Georgetown Law student and joking about Sarah Palin?
One is a private individual and the one asked to be in the public eye making herself fair game.

I think what Rush said was terrible. I don't think you read the whole article, though. The writer also discusses Maher's misogynistic comments, along with some by Ed Schultz and Olbermann.

                    I DID read the article.

Like I said Maher is a comedienne and makes his jokes about fair game.  I don't defend Maher's language, but equating his misogyny with Limbaugh's is absurd.

I don't particularly like the guy but he does air out the issues every week and blows apart the BS that the politicians offer as explanations for their actions. He is full of himself but he is better acquanted with the issues than most. He is pro Obama to a fault ( donating a million dollars to his campaign) but is quick to critisize him when Obama doesn't take cheap shots.

He is kind of like listening to Howard Stern, I don't necessarily agree with all he says but I want to hear what he says next. LOL.

Just because he is a liberal, doesn't mean all liberals are like that. I am voting Democrat this time, but I am not a liberal by the way. Actually I am an independent. Being liberal and being Democrat aren't the same thing. Some are moderates.

You're missing the point. This man is a comedian, this thread is a joke.

Wow. What a great piece of investigative reporting from the site dedicated to finding and exposing liberal media bias.
    Pulitzer contender right here, folks.

Newsflash: Bill Maher used to date Ann Coulter.

I don't usually trust that source, either, MM, but there's a video clip of Maher saying it. Kinda hard to argue with that.

Barefootfaeposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Yeah, enough of not liking who brought it up. I notice he gets a pass from MM because he dated Ann C.?
        What up with that?

I don't dispute that he said it.
I have no doubt that he did.
        He says crass things.
We expect Bill Maher to say crass things.
Just as we expect Ann Coulter to say crass things.
They cancel each other out in the crass department.

Bill Maher is the main reason HBO is not and will not be in my house until he is no longer there.
He is every bit the hate mongering thing everyone claims Rush and others to be but has a national cable show.

You are kind of making my point that we seem to make it easy to find a way to dismiss him out of hand.
Some people actually think he is a factual person.

Saw some show one night with Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann and Bernie Sanders at the same table discussing things and was wondering when the black hole would form.

Bill Maher does not speak for me... I see him as a comedian and a social commentator, nothing more.

Please, call Bill Maher a racist all you want. He's also a misogynist, Islamophobe, and a flat out bigot in many other areas. In fact, call out racism when you see it. When a high profile pundit paints black people as violent and stupid, it should be met with scorn. When he advocates carpet bombing Arab nations because he's not a fan of their (or any) religion, tell him to go blow.

Racism exists in many spectrums. It is often more overt in conservative speech, but skeptics have a bad habit of trying to use science to support their internalized racism and misogyny. Voting for the black dude doesn't make you not racist. It just makes you marginally less racist than someone who won't vote for anyone who isn't white.
